Has anyone ever heard of 'notice by publication'? how can someone do this...is this really a way that a CA can use to get a judgement against you. Also if a CA is collecting for an illegal CA can they sue you?[size=3][/size][font=Arial][/font][color=Black][/color]

If there are 80 people in the chat room right now and nobody is talking, what's the purpose of the chat room?

With our national economic situation I began wondering how positive or negative JDB's have on our economy. They purchase debts from original creditors which allows the original creditor to recoup some of their loss and they do create jobs. But they also tend to file law suits in mass quantities and often try to charge insane fees/interest which doesn't help anything on the consumer end as a consumer with a judgment against them would be far less likely to to spend anything beyond what is absolutely necessary which could prove to stagnate economic growth. What are your thoughts?

I just wanted to drop in real quick to let you know that the company I had been using for a loan modification (my mortgage loan was thru WaMu), got my modification!!! I interest rate went from 9.25 to 6.(something. Don't remember the rest of it) and my payments went from almost $1300 to about $990, which includes my taxes and insurance!!! I am so happy!!! I do have to send WaMu some money but after I get that to them, I also do not have to make a payment until Dec. 1st! :D :D :D :D That is one major relief!

Are there any types of fees involved with this debt consolidation?

well, I find myself in the boat with many of the posters here. I have $100K in unsecured CC debt, spread out amongst all the major banks. I got in this mess by doing balance transfers by opening new cards at "0" % over the last 3 years. My credit is spotless, and I pay everything on time. but it has run out. My wifes accounts are 66% of the debt and mine are 33%. I have $60K left in my 401K that i plan to use to settle these accounts. I know whatever I do my credit will be wrecked.

I thought this was dead and wanted to bring it back to life in light of the recent bail out for corporate America - but a quick search showed me that this is still progressing and I am VERY happy. i was scamed by jill spellmen her number is 8776270413, she claimed i would goto jail if i didnt pay, now i paid her 100.00, and i found out she isnt even with the payday loan company, she is a scammer. how do i get my money back now so i can pay the reall payday people?

I have been sent a collection notice from a CA who purchased the account from another CA who purchased it from the original creditor. Once the account is purchased, are the CA required to keep original files (contracts) sincd the account was purchased? They creditor sold it to the 1st CA on 6/01/2007 but they sold it to another CA on 06/15/2007 but it stated that they were working on the sale in 01/2007 in the Sales contract? How can that be? The dates do not all add up.

I know from letters that 4 accounts have gone to collection agencies, the most recent one I know whom the collection agency is, but the rest have switched Collection Agencies's a few times. How can I tell who is currently holding my account when it is not listed on my credit report?
