Is there a limit as to the time that I have to ask for debt validation? It is past the thirty days that was stated at the bottom of the letter but I feel that if I ask for validation there will be none from this collection agency and perhaps I can get them off my back. By the way, I feel this account has been over paid by more than $1000. Thank you

Is there a staute of limitations, on old debt...or can CA's just keep selling your account over and over, and your not sure who to pay, and the original creditor, does only know who they originally sent it too.

These anonymous posters have been posting articles on Hess Kennedy quite a lot lately. Unless they have something solid to back this up, I really don't think this should be permitted to go on. We are with DTS at the present time and they are basically useless. Does anybody know why they changed their official name to Settlement HQ? kind of creepy. Is it possible to get your retainer refunded if you leave a program? Some say you can. I hope so because we paid them almost $1,000 up front.

LVNV Funding has (apparently) acquired my old Sears balance. LVNV has (apparently) retained an Alabama attorney. I never answered any of their letters. The attorney has filed a lawsuit against me. I filed my answer with the district clerk on April 14 and mailed a copy of my answer to the attorney on the same day. I have received notice of a July 27 court date. In my answer, I listed several defenses, including statute of limitations. I also demanded verification of the debt. To this date (May 20), I have not received any verification information.

I just received summons from JPRD Investments LLC. It's due to credit card debt I had from Chase Manhattan Bank. I'm really confused and worried about what steps I need to take next. I am in a position to make payments but I can't afford the full amount ($2,313.37). Do I respond to the summons and if so what do I put in the response letter. There's no way I can afford an attorney. What now?!? PLEASE HELP!!!

okay, so i took a look and reviewed my credit report and i can't find these people on there or the amount that they are saying i owe. can they still try to sue me????? what should my next step me?

I am AWFUL at writing letters, Can anyoneoffer some ideas of what I have so far and what I should change or add, personally I think it sounds dumb: To Whom It May Concern: I have 2 loans with your company. One loan at Checksmart and the other with Express Payroll advance. Both for $$$. I unfortunately have fallen on a financial hardship. At this time I am unable to pay my full loans off. By the time you receive this correspondence, my payments will have been returned as NSF. I do apologize for this, I have been a long time customer, however the situation is out of my control.
