I need advice on the next step to take with a collection item on my credit report. My ex-husband went to the dentist while we were married so his bill had my name on it too (the services were in 2002, the bill went to collections in 2004 - we divorced in 2003). In any case, the debt with the collection agency showed up on my credit report (I noticed in early 2007) and I disputed with all 3 and all 3 agencies "verfied", so then I went to the collection agency and they sent me to the dentist.

I would like to know if I am in the right to ask the collector that is calling to send me a letter from the company they state hired them to prove that they have been infact hired to collect on a debt? I ask them to send me a breakdown of the interest they has occured, the original contract (as I can't find mine) and a letter stating they were hired. P.S. They said they cannot provide me with what I want which I tend to think is boggus but for what reason - don't understand why they wouldn't provide what I asked for, why would I send money to just anyone who calls me.

What is the best way to handle paying a judgement? I have never been served, or even notified of this judgement against me, just saw it on my credit report. The OC is listed on my Credit Report, with a balance showing. I know I owe them, but I believe that the SOL to file judgement against me was up in Jan 2007. They apparently filed this judgement in May 2007, but I just now saw it on my CR. I looked up the judgement in the Office of Public Records through my County Court's website, and it says it was filed/recorded on 4/22/08...

I'm looking at a debt management Program with CareOne Credit. Has anyone worked or heard of them before? I want to know more about these guys before I agree to any program. :lol: I'm interested in positive and negative feedback. Thanks! Wayne

Do those letters posted regarding laws in your state really work? So far i have received responses stating that the PDL'S go by the laws in the state they are issued. I am getting a bit discouraged.

Is the company you spoke of for buying checks, styles check company, bel air, md, styleschecks.com, I just want to be sure I hate to be such a pain.

I opened an account with suntrust online. It gave me an account number, and I went to the branch to make my deposit. I set up the online banking, and was going to give it a couple days, before I did anything with the account, as I had a feeling.. Come to find out, I was right...apparently my account is being closed by Risk Management, so I went to the branch and closed it myself.
