Hi, I've been juggling multiple loans for years now and need to get myself out of this mess. I am in the state of Pennsylvania and from what I understand the law here dictates that if the lender is licensed then the laws governing the state of the lenders location also carry over to my state. Having done some research, I discovered that the lenders I'm currently using may not be licensed at all in the states and I'm hoping somebody can tell me if I have some legal option here to get out of repayment.

I wanted to see if anyone could advise me here.. I had two chcks that were returned and ended up with CheckCare. My mailbox had been stolen and mail had beed returned to sender while I was in the process of filing the paperwork on the mailbox and getting a new mailbox. I never received the initial notice of the returned checks or the returned check notice from the bank. This was in November and the two checks totaled $9.99 and there was a $30.00 return check charge for each check. I received a notice from CheckCare in February and it was marked 2nd notice.

I have 13 payday loans and I am in dire need to pay them off so I can pay my other bills. Are there any loans available to someone like me so I can consolidate those loans & just have one loan to pay. Any suggestions?

I live in Texas and have a few accounts that are past SOL. I am wanting to send Cease and Desist letters to STOP ALL COMMUNICATION AND COLLECTION ACTIVITY. There seems to be conflicting information whether or not a negative item on a CR is collection activity. I'm looking for the right wording and maybe chapter and verse of FCRA and/or fdcpa. Case Law also if there is any. Thanks A Bunch. I have learned quite a bit from this site in the past few months and any help is appreciated.

Hi Everyone, Joe again (not Krista as he s/n shows). My friend loaned me the money today to pay these sharks off. It's done-I'm out. I just wanted to thank everyone who helped with all the info. It was that info that forced to me humble myself enough to ask my buddy for a hand. I introduced him to his wife, so he kinda owed me. ....or perhaps not, :) Thank you folks! HI, My parents lost their house to auction in 1991 after my father had a major surgery and was unable to pay on it. It was foreclosed on and then auctioned off. 18 years later, my father is getting phone calls from a debt collection attorney seeking over $36,000 but will settle for $18,000. Is that legal? My father was told that in 1991, the creditor should have shown up if they wanted their money and are not able to collect after the fact. I can't find what this would fall under for the SOL.

I, like many needed help in a hurry to keep my electric on and resorted to payday loans. I needed 1200 dollars and took out 4 PDLs for $300 each. I haven't made any payments back yet, and I don't mind repaying them. But, I'm trying to work on a budget I can't find any way I'm going to be able to pay the $360 fee every 2 weeks and pay of the original amounts I've borrowed.

Well I finally got a response, I think, from the letter I emailed Payday Yes re: my loan. Before I respond, I just wanted to get some input. I was going to reply to the email with some excerpts from the original letter I sent them (which I got from this forum) stating I will only correspond via email, fax or mail, and the payment terms previously outlined. They're trying to get me to call, which I won't do.

Well, I have been getting letters and nasty calls from about all the storefronts now. I posted that about arbitration and am still not sure if this will only occur after they refuse a payment plan or until I give them an idea when I can pay? Unfortunately, my checking account has been a mess since my mortgage company sent my check through early and I have been short every week and back in overdraft.

I'm a little freaked out by this discovery process--I've never experienced it before. :shock: The situation is that this lawyer is (I think) attempting to sue my husband for a bill that he charged after we were finished with him. My husband had retained him for a family law case, he sucked, and we were done with him. A few weeks later, he sent a bill for work he did not do as well as a charge for $500 to "replenish our account". Since he didn't do any of the work he said and we did not plan on using him again, we informed him that we were not paying it.
