A somewhat questionable CA contacted me regarding a debt I supposedly owed. The CA is mentioned in another thread on this site as being a potential scammer/fraud. I'm pretty suspicious about this behavior. I've withheld/changed some information here just to further protect myself. The CA contacted my parents last night. I haven't lived with my parents for several years (and they've moved twice since then). My parents were gracious enough to not give them my contact information. Not knowing that they were a CA, I called them back.

Hi-I'm new here. I have a couple of questions: I started a business several years ago and it went south 3 years into it. I have several foreclosures on my credit report as a result. However, I just recently checked my credit report and surprisingly it is a decent score (650). I have approx. $10K in credit card dues which has some really high interest rates 30%. I have been paying the minimum for over a year now - until I decided what to do about it.

Been looking at the board for a while and finally decided to do something. I let my ex boyfriend (who i lived with for a year and a half) put some of his debt on a credit card I got with bank of america. after we broke up, he continued to pay, although often late and recently stopped paying altogether. I requested through bank of america to have my name removed from the card, but his credit is bad so they said they can't remove me. Now i'm getting phone calls from allied interstate and i dont know what to do. I can't afford to pay the minimum payment (340) and the debt is too big to take to small claims court (4,500+) in Arizona.

It seems that mine maxes out at 5, earlier it was 10, prior to that it was 20.

So my fiance received a "letter" from these yahoos.

Apparently, my card was used at Hannaford within the time period affected, so they want to cover the bases. The odd part is, I never shop at Hannaford.

Does anyone know anything about paying off defaulted student loans? someone close to me had a loan that went into default last month. It is only for a small amt and they say that you need to have a checking acct to set up payments but this person does not have checking acct. they will not even accept debit or credit card payments. This person is overdrawn and acct has been closed. Will send payment by way of money order. Can someone please detail how to deal with a defaulted loan as far as payments and also, how it impacts your credit report?
