If a person is able to settle with a credit card company for say 40% of the amount owed what affect does this have on the persons credit and for how long will it stay on the credit report.

Got my "daily" telephone call from United Cash Loans this weekend. I'd been down with the flu all week and didn't answer the phone but they caught me! Anyhow, after not getting any sleep and coughing all week, I was not exactly Miss Congeniality; they started in about how they could "make it easy on me," and get my PDL paid off, and so on. I told them that I'd notified them time and again that they are illegal in Maryland, to contact the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation, etc., and to tell the truth, I used a few words that were not very nice.

I have paid them $455 in fees on a principal loan of $350. I know they're illegal, and I've paid them more than the principal (and on several other loans over the years), so I morally don't owe them anything more. But what does that mean for me practically speaking? They still have my checking account # and my work and home phone #'s. What should my plan of action be? They won't give out a physical address for the company, other than their call center is in London. What now? Do I pay them off and be done with them ( and then change checking account #'s)?

Who is T & C I keep hearing everyone mention? Do they help with PDL's? I got a call from Superior debt relief. How do I know whether I should work with them as opposed to someone else regarding credit card debt or other debts? Also, what's the difference between debt negotiation and debt consolidation? Is debt negotiation worse for my credit report/score?

i have received 2 letters stating that if i pay 106.49 my credit report will be updated but i cannot find any info on mcm to see if they are legit can anyone help me?? :?:

I've been working to get out of the PDL's here in Maryland, where they are prohibited. I got a letter in the mail this weekend from grabmycash.com, saying I've been pre-approved to receive up to $500 in my checking account by tomorrow; isn't that just "great?" :D I checked out their website and was surprised to see that they DO list a few states where residents can't apply for their loan, but Maryland wasn't one of them.

How much does it cost for debt consolidation, I need to have it all put in one sum so I can pay one payment, but does it cost anything to set up or anything? I am broke at the moment but ZI do work, and can pay the payments if it it where i can handle it.

Is it ok to assume that if a debt is 4 years old and everytime that I send a proof of debt to the collection agency they sell it off to another CA, that they don't have the sufficient information to sue. It's been through like 5 different collection agencies.

Is it an illegal practice for a debt collector to call you on Sunday?
