Should I use a debt consolidation company

18 years 2 months ago
Should I use a debit consolidation company or should I deal with this on my own. I don't have a problem with paying what I owe I just can't afford all the interest payments. I feel like a fool for getting myself into this situation, and now not knowing what to do.

My ex-husband and I finally came to a settlement on debt.

1.How can I get a Repossession removed fom my credit report? It was paid off but still apperas as a negative on my CR. 2. My ex-husband and I finally came to a settlement on debt. He was awarded some of the debt on my credit. Is there a form or anything I can send to the creditors informing them I am not liable for the debt any longer.? That the debt on my credit has been resigned to him. I have a judgement with the creditors & amounts listed. 2. A collection agency has re-aged a debt on my CR from 2002 to 2006. How can I get the correct dates changed?

DMP or Settlement

I just received information about a debt management Plan for my financial situation and I am bummed. I filled out my information online, but it did not give me enough room to included all of my bills. Well, without those bills (approx. $175) plus a loan in my FIL name ($250), I am still $220 short per month to use their proposed dmp. So they suggest I work more hours, get a second job and/or cut more expenses. Well, when I looked at my expenses I realized I did not include a budget amount for clothing. I have 3 kids. It will be impossible to go 4+ years without buying clothes.

2 agencies collecting on one debt

I've gotten letters from 2 collection agencies trying to collect on the same debt. I sent both validation letters & have gotten no response. Is there a limitation on how long they have to respond? How can 2 agencies collect on the same account?

Debt verification

Last month I sent certified, return receipt to the law form (collection agency) as well as the NAF that I needed a 30 day extension on my particular case b/c the agency had not sent the debt verification I requested. Well, they still haven't & it's been 4+ weeks. However, they wrote me that they are requesting an indefinite stay of arbitration or something along those lines. What does this mean? Do they have a time period to respond to my request for validation? Are they stalling & is there anything I can do to get this tossed out or do I just have to wait to see what their next move is?

Refund deposit

Hello. I hope I am posting this in the right place. Question, I have a levy on my bank account that I am in the process of working out. I want to file my taxes and was wondering if I could have the money deposited in my girlfriends bank account. Or will there be a problem with the creditors coming after that money. I want to e-file to speed up the process.

Sinking like a lead weight

Well all I can say is I have made BAD choices. My fiance and I both had good jobs and bought a brand new $26,000 travel trailer. Then we BOTH lost our jobs because we were DATING... long story. Between the two of us we lost $10/hr. Long story short, the trailer was in MY name because he had previous debt issues, then I had to let the trailer be repossessed. He found a better job, but it's turning out to not be so good because since this year has started he has only worked about four spuratic weeks and my wimpy income is not covering our expenses.

Florida Has Extra Help Against Collectors

This information is for Florida residents who are experiencing harassment by debt collectors. Aside from the fdcpa which most of us are familiar with that applies to third party collectors only, Florida has FS 559.72 which, while paralleling the FDCPA in having the same basic content, it is broader and also applies to all collectors not just third parties. One section prohibits unreasonable frequency of calls in an attempt to harass, a common but overlooked violation committed with frequency by collectors.
