I found the site for SOL per state...thanks for the info. I don't understand some of the terminology though...what is the difference between 'contracts' and 'contracts under seal', not in terms of SOL, but their meaning? Also, I am confused about when the SOL would take effect. For instance I have an old debt from 1997 or 1998, SOL would be from original date of debt or other date? Thank for your help.

Okay, Bank of America has finally gotten my secondary checking account re-established ( not linked to the primary ) so I will be shutting down my primary account very shortly. Now, as for mailing the letters to the PDL companies, what is the best method? Hi there. I received a letter from Bowman & Heintz stating that an old Midland collection had been referred to them. I asked for validation of the debt and they say that it is from an old account with Providian with a last pay date of 11/2002 so it is within the SOL. I would like to try & settle this account. Should I contact Providian who is now WAMU, or Midland, or Bowman & Heintz? Or is it too late? Any ideas how I would format the request? Thanks so much for any help.
