Received a call from this number on my work overnight voice mail; I did a "search" on this forum, apparently it's a Legal Mediation Service" in Florida? And apparently they work w/ payday loans? I got suspicious when I listened to the message; the woman who called (Mrs. Porter) didn't leave a name for the company, and after she left me her phone number, she said "Good luck!" in a rather threatening tone. Ooooh, sounds like they're trying to scare me, you think?

I received a settlement offer from a collection agency that I can afford and I want to go for it, but I'm a little hesitant cause I've heard so many horror stories. My original account was charged off 3yrs ago and sold to LVNV. They transferred it to Resurgent and they in turn gave it to a collector called Protocol. I'm wondering the best way to go about getting this settled and showing up correctly on my credit reports. Do I deal with Protocol or call Resurgent, LVNV? I've heard these companies like to go after the rest of the settlement.

Can someone collect a debt from a recorded "contract" over the phone? Does'nt there need to be some type of written, signed agreement?

i am in deep distress. i was traveling and my wallet with all the credit cards was stolen. i immediately informed the credit card companies about it and asked them to seal the cards. they did and i thought all was fine. but now they are charging me the whole of my due amount all at once which totals to about 7.5k. what do i do? i don't have so much of ready cash right now and they are threatening to sue me. i showed them the police report that i filed and asked for some time but they are thinking that i wont pay them anymore. they are not willing to listen to anything. help!

I agreed over the phone to let yellow pages publish an add for my small business. I called back the very next morning and told the salesman I did not want to go through with the add and do not publish my business online. The salesman told me I was bound by our recorded agreement and published my name against my wishes. Now ihave a message on my phone from McCarthy Burgess & wolff wanting to collect $1015 for an add I did not want published. I am in Mass and I did'nt sign anything, it was a recorded agreement. Should I be worried?

I have never taken a pdl from them and they are trying to take money out of my acct. I have already closed one and they are telling me that they will go after all the accounts I open. How do I get them to back off without closing all my accounts?

Went to bank about my PDLs and talk to manager about putting Hard Hold on acct. My account is currently OD. Had 2 items hit my acct on friday and was really worried about them not being paid. Manager had my acct. in front of him and we discussed the two items. He told me they were paid and i would be "fined" the NSF Fee, which i was fine with, just as long as they were paid. Came home tonight and something made me check my acct. and sure enough the two items were returned. I am going to go to bank again tomorrow and will most likely be told he has no control over the situation.

I am a victim of Sears/LVNV extortion with bogus charges. No idea why these people engage in cheating poor public and make a meager out of it. Can any one advice how to handle a situation of fraudulent charges that cropped up by Sears/LVNV. Thanks
