Sometimes a bank or credit union will say that they verify new checking and savings accounts with a credit report. Many times they were looking at the Equifax report. Equifax had a check verification service. Equifax Inc. spun off its Equifax Check Solutions into a stand-alone company that took the name Certegy Check Services.

We have a credit union at work, but I've never really inquired. I have a checking account with a traditional bank. I'm under the impression credit unions are designed to cater to lower income families - for example offering less strict guidelines on loans than traditional banks. So what are the benefits of credit unions vs. traditional banks? Pros? Cons?

Hello All: I found this site while searching for information on debt consolidation vs. debt settlement and in reading through some of the treads, I've realized the first thing I should attempt to tackle is my recurring payday loans. Here are the particulars: I am in San Diego, CA. 5 Payday Loans every two weeks and 1 additional every month. All are instore: CheckMate - $300 Advance Til Payday - $300 Money Tree - $300 Cash N Advance - $300 Check Center - $300 Advance Check Express - $299.63 (1 a month) On all of these loans, I receive $255 back on a $300 check.

I could not longer afford to pay AIG $89 per day. Bank of America has charged me so many NSF fees from AIG that my account is now $590 overdrawn and I do not have the money to repay BOA. My original loan amount w/ AIG was $200 and of course the extension fee of $89.00 per PD. Do I still have to repay AIG? I have paid them back more than $1400. Can someone please help me out w/ this one? Thanks a million.

Hi everyone. I am glad that I found this forum. Past 5 years since I started retail busniness, I'v been in steadly deeper into credit card debt. I have 4 personal credit cards totaling $78k and 5 business cards totaling 40K and my wife's one card 8k. I do not want to loose business or file BK. All of my cards has 29 to 31% apr. Can I do debt settlement on 5 personal cards while enrolling 5 business card on credit councelling? If i stop payments on personal credit cards I can save up to 2k/ month. Thanks in Advance Scott

This is the response I received through the BBB from USFastCash. I had loans totalling $850 from them and paid $1205. The final loan had a balance of $200. I had already paid $300. I live in the VI and the cap for a small loan is $26%. Any ideas on a rubbutal for this one?

I have been living without paying rent my whole life, and now i was forced to get my own place after i made about $60,000 in loans and credit cards. I just got evicted from my home, and now i'm living with a family member for short term. My girl friend just told me she's pregnant! I live in Ohio and I need help with the following: AIP-$300 loan-paid $178 in fees Internet Funding Corp. $200 loan-paid $120 in fees achloan-$300 loan-paid $210 in fees MTE Finanacial- $300 loan-paid $445 I can't keep up-I will never be able to pay these off! They keep debiting my account and the $$ is not there so they double the finance charge 2 weeks later. I can't close my account because-I was lucky to get this bank account in the first place.

I received an advertisement letter from Edelman, combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC yesterday in the mail. It says that they are writing to me because I have been sued by a bad debt buyer, Midland, which may be barred by the statute of limitations. I have never received anything from Midland, nor do I know who and where they are. I called ECL&G today and they said that this came from public record and it's only an advertisement if I want their help. I explained that I don't know who Midland is and who they are collecting for.
