Am considering debt consolidation I don't want to shirk my debt but these late charges and over limit charges are ruining me. I know getting debt free is wht this website is all about but is it really okay to use these firms. I don't really want to settle for less than what I owe I borrowed the funds that I can live with. I can afford to use more than half my income to pay towards my debt maybe even more. I am very hesitant to use one of these consolidation companies. How will using one affect my credit? Any advice or thoughts before I embark on this.

Okay - big financial mess here, but I'm determined to get it resolved. From my online research the past few days I have learned: (1) Send a debt validation request (oops - who knew!) (2) Send a cease and desist letter (whew - having trouble explaining the call the inlaws got) (3) Never ever EVER give your banking information to the CA. Crap. Okay, the CA is united recovery systems and I don't like anything I have read about them at all.

Hello All! (2) questions. Can you request validation at any time? I found something on my credit report that has been there for years. I requested validation and they said they didnt have to validate because it wasnt inside the thirty days they give you when they first report it. Is this true? Does your validation privileges go away after that initial 30 days??? I'm preparing an attack on midland credit management. Do you have to hire an attorney from the same state in which you live?
