Where can I get more details on the SOL terms

18 years 4 months ago
I went to the SOL by state and saw this: Written Contract: 5 Years, (O.S. § 95(1)). Oral Contract: 3 Years, (O.S. § 95(2)) Attachments: 5 Years, (O.S. § 95(5)) Domestic Judgment: 5 Years, (O.S. § 95(5)) Foreign Judgment: 3 Years, (O.S. § 95(2) But I'm not quite sure what all of those entail. Where can I get more information on the definition of each of those and what would fall under those various areas?

Are there any debts that do not have a SOL?

18 years 4 months ago
I got a letter a while back from a CA stating that the debt would not expire and was not subject to SOL laws. I think it was for a student loan? Is this true and if so, are there any other debts that fall under this category?

Student Loan

I had a student loan with Stafford. I never once received a bill and now acording to my credit report, they filed a claim with the government. What does that mean and can I stop it? What rights do I have?

How do I keep the same debt from being cycled and reported?

18 years 4 months ago
I have a debt that keeps getting cycled thru multiple CA's and reported to the credit bureaus when I ask them for validation. They each have sent me a letter when I ask, but it is by no means validation. It's just some bogus form letter saying I owe the money. How do I stop this downward spiral?

Mortgage Loan Question

18 years 4 months ago
My wife and I went through a really tough streatch due to health issues with our newborn son. Needless to say we almost lost our house. We were, at the last second, able to short sale it. My question is, once we get 100% back on our feet, will we be able to get another mortgage? A short sale is a lot better than a foreclosure but how much does it hurt when applying for another mortgage? Also, how long should we expect to wait? 2 years? 5 years? more? Thanks for the help.

Please give me advice

18 years 4 months ago
You guys are so good at giving advice but sometimes I'm not real clear with my questions. So pardon if this looks like I am posting over and over again. I had sent out a DV request to LTD in Aug 07. Yesterday I received a packet from them. It contained several copies of statements from the original creditor and a copy of a POA I had given to a debt management Co years back. (That Debt management Co had since made off with my money and disappeared…but that’s all in another thread) They did not provide me with documentation on how they came to hold this debt.

I am in $205,000.00 in Debt due to Private Student Loans

18 years 4 months ago
Hello, My name is Joe Perez, I live in Cranston Rhode Island. When I was 19, I moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a carreer as a film director. After College I found myself in over $180k worth of debt due to private student loans. I just launched a site joesdebt.com detailing my story. The site features functioning debt clock, and other various pages that list the loans i owe, and what it feels like to be in this much debt... I am trying to raise awareness levels about the predatory practices of private student loan companies. Help me spread awareness visit my site. Regards, Joe P
