I know some of you already try to help out in the unanswered posts, but I feel that more members should attack this section, because as soon as I get done with one visitors question, another five roll in, and it gets overwhelming. Hello, this forum seems to contain a wealth of information and helpful people so I'm hoping someone can offer a bit of advice. Due to recent problems I didn't check mail or deal with phone calls as there wasn't any money to pay. This was my own mistake as I should have responded to the original creditor earlier. Last month they made an offer to settle, basically for the debt minus late fees. I finally picked up the phone to accept their offer and was told my account was sent to a collection agency and I'd have to deal with them.

I am a strong believer in owing nobody anything. All of my life I have purchased used cars, and end up with no monthly bill, and lower insurance. A used car may sound risky, but you can have a mechanic look it over before buying it. I just save my money until I have enough to buy a used car flat out. It is a wonderful feeling to have a possession and own it, actually being yours. I suggest that if you want something that is truly yours, and you only need liability insurance, then go for a used car. I only pay 87.00 dollars a month on car insurance. Could I purchase a new car?

I have $54,000 in credit card debt. I have been with 2 settlement companies and they have ripped me off. I do not want to file bankruptcy. What should I do to get these bills paid off?

Here is a letter I received from Cash Tree via email this morning... Quote:

We understand your situation, and realize that a loan was given to you in error. We do not give loans to NC because of the laws that were passed in your state. Since this was done in error then we are willing to waive the remainder of your balance ($400). To date you have paid $500 on your original $400 loan.
