ok - it has been raining for days, which is depressing enough - more rain this week, and this past weekend my daughter moved back down to college 2 hours away to start her Master's. My son moved out about a month ago - not far,(30 minutes) but still away. I know they are not far, but it is so quiet. Hubby was so sweet yesterday and tried to keep me occupied with errands and he took me out for lunch. But man....they grow up so fast. On top of it, I have a few extra stresses with my mom's health, and of course we ALL know the ever present deeelightful money woes.

I need to know the best debt consolidators out there. I'm a single pregnant mother stressing over what to do.

can collection agencies refuse debt consolidation payments?

honestly i made some wrong decisions with credit cards,and school loans. i was out of work for a while and couldn't afford to pay my school loan back. now i'm in a position where i can't get approved for anything, car or home. i want to purchase a home and i need to take out a loan and i can't because of my credit score. help me please. :cry: thanks for listening. -tamara byrd-

I looked at the ranking chart for NJ & found that none of the companies are registered in NJ. Is that something to be concerned about? Or are the companies here all trust worthy? I asked for a free consult from here & was directed to Federated Financial Counseling Services, Corp in Florida (I live in NJ). They are registered w/ BBB but have about 22 complaints-all of which were settled with the people who submitted the complaints. I'm new to all this & would love some help!!!

I requested validation in regards to a debt that was owed to HSBC. I received in the mail a letter with the name of Portfolio Recovery & Associates, LLC typed on the letterhead. It is a general letter with my name and address and my account number on it. It is stating that the date of the loan is 2/4/2004, PRA purchased this account on 6/21/2007. I don't know if this a legitimate debt validation letter or not.

This flyer reads that I can bring in my car paid for or still owe in any condition and they will give me a loan for the title.I shredded up the flyer I want to know how they got my name and address they even went as far as saying my credit had slipped a little. How do they know all this and do they think I am dumb to take out a loan against my car?

Since the overdraft of my account 5 weeks ago, I have only been contacted by One company. Of course, it would be $500 fast cash. The gentlman called me at work and asked when I could pay on my account and I told him "when I have it". He just said OK and hung up. Is that weird or what??????????? He has never called back and the other company still with a balance has not called me either. Things are too quiet. I'M DEFINITELY NOT COMPLAINIG, JUST EXPECTED WORSE TO HAPPEN.

I am very confused. I am looking at debt settlement and I have come across a ton of companies. I owe about 22,000 in unsecured credit card debt. Some of the posts say that "Paid in full or Paid as agreed" is much better than "Settled." But I just got off the phone with a debt settlement company that said they had never heard of that and the only entry that is possible is "settled" Help!!! Has anyone heard of that?

As per your request, I enclose VERIFICATION of the debt referenced above. Copies of account statements, Dec 04 to Mar 05 are enclosed. As a courtesy to you and in the spirit of a good faith attempt to resolve this matter, NAFS has provided you as much documentation in VERIFYING this debt as we were able to get from our client, listed above.
