Need help with first step on getting out of debt nightmare

18 years 6 months ago
My husband and I have made a lot of bad choices and kept getting ourselves further into debt, well it has finally caught up with us over the last 2 yrs, the debt is a combination of credit cards and home equity loans, this is really scary because we are barely treading water. Does anyone have any advice on how to get started.

Re-designing the website

18 years 6 months ago
Hi Everyone, We are working on redesigning the look of the website. Our main focus is on the side frame which is presently cluttered with too many links. The new design will feature all our services tabbed in different buttons. Since this is in the development stage, few more changes are expected. We welcome all suggestions from the community. Tell us more about improving the look. I will forward your suggestions to the technology team with your name :) Our programmers will be very happy to see your participation and I will forward their greetings to you.

Not paying the debts??

18 years 6 months ago
You should be ashamed for promoting to america that accruing debt and not paying it is ok its the american way right, wrong I work everyday (as a debt collector) to feed, cloth, and take care of my family, nowing there are people out there that are sitting on their a55es living off my tax dollars and not paying the bills they run up, yet Im a bad person? You should actually make a visit to a collection agency and sit with us and see what its like. Why should we try to make someone pay a bill they ran up right.....uh duh!!

Dear Folks, I would appreciate any help .I am in credit card debt. Currently I am behind about three months in payments for the following credit cards: 1.Citi Bank-a little over $4,000.00 2.Bank of America-$2,000.00+ 3.HSBC(Orchard Bank)-$700.00 I lost my job due to a substance abuse problem. I went to and completed a program at a Drug and Alcohol Treatment center. I am also currently receiving treatment at a outpatient facility. I am awaiting Public Assistance as well as about to start school to find a better job.

Bad Judgement

18 years 6 months ago
In July of 2002, we refinanced our house and paid off liens on it, many were medical bills. In October 2002, a collection attorney contacted me on some medical bills. I told her that I would check to see if these were paid or not. While contacting these debtors and awaiting correspondence, I was contacted again by the legal office and rudely forced to pay large amount of money (2100.00) to start up a payment plan.

AG Response Continues

18 years 6 months ago
Okay. If you remember, I received responses from my state AG on every pdl complaint I filed. They gave the pdl's 30 days to respond. Gee, today I got a fat envelope from the AG's office. Copies of 7 pdl's that never responded to the AG's letter. Hmmm... and MTE Financial was one of them? Hmmmm......am I surprised? So the AG sent a second letter to the pdl's. This one is a bit more stern, stating consumer protection, they will step in, etc. I still have others that I'm waiting to see if they respond to the AG. I'm sure they won't. They're all illegal!
