Is it Atypical for someone who is settling there debts to work with an lawyer from a different State? I searched for a settlement firm and came up with this one shepleylaw.com/whoweare.nxg. I am from WI and the firm is in Penn. Has any one heard of Harold Shepley and Associates? So far I am pleased, and they seem to really care and help, I would just like farther reassurance as I am just beginning the program. Thanks for Sharing!

I have just been served with a civil summons from Discover card. What are the laws in NC pertaining to this? Can they garnish my wages? Can they take control of my checking account?

After being way over my head for a few years, I am finally getting credit cards paid off and under control. My new focus is to improve my credit score. I recently completed paying off one of my AmEx cards. The account had been closed because of late payments, and I paid a set amount monthly (no reduction in principal was given; just a reduced interest rate). Now that the account is paid in full, AmEx has offered a new Optima card.

I have been messing with UnitedCashLoans for 2 months now saying i want my loan marked paid in full. They are the hardest company to deal with, I have filed complaints with the BBB and have sent my complaint to the California Department of Corporations and my AG. Anyway I check my account so often on their website to see if there is any paid in full because 500fastcash did that and when i checked today it states I have applied for another loan and it is pending?? I never applied for another loan and never will!

Welp I did it, closed the ol' bank account. Next on the list is to continue writing these ipdl companies until I reach resolutions. I went so far as to contact a couple ipdls I had already paid off last year that had overcharged me. I didn't expect much, but now I'm receiving two refund checks via FedEx for a total of over 600 dollars. Not as much as they overcharged me, but it's a big chunk. It took a week of hard work and not taking no for an answer. Last week I was so stressed out I couldn't sleep, eat, or smile.
