I have credit card debts that the companies are threatening to charge off>>> what impact does this have on a credit report if they are settled before a charge off or after a charge off (r-9) rating ? Is it easier to repair credit if debts were settled after a charge off as compared to before a charge off? Thanks

I was served with a court date for a past due debt to a credit card company a little over a year ago. I panicked and contacted Midland. I was told that I owed about $8400.00. I thought my debt was about half that, but had no proof. I now realize that I should have asked for a 'debt validation' letter and checked the SOL. Regardless, I paid them $1000.00 and have been paying $300.00 a month since then. My question is: is it too late to request the validation letter? If the SOL has passed can I stop payments and try to get my money back? How can I contact them for my balance due?

I just got a letter from palisades collection to my indiana address with a last name I haven't had for 12 years and haven't had since I've lived in michigan 12 years ago. They say I owe for a verizon bill. I don't think I even had an account with verizon and I've never heard anything about it before this. It is possible that an ex used my name to set up telephone service (it wouldn't surprise me) but I have no way to check that out. There is an 800 number to call but I hesitate to call and let them know they have a 'live' one. Any suggestions about how I should proceed?

I have defaulted as of last week I had the loan for awhile($300) and I payed on it and then 3 weeks ago had to take out a larger amount ( i made a payment on the interest so i could refinance the loan for it to be $500) because my wife was sick and needed antibiotcs what do I do. I am drowning in payday loans, I can only afford to pay the interest each month and this is causing strain financial and emotional strain on my family. How do I break the cycle, I know they are all legal in Texas. 1. Pay day one- borrowed $1200/302.00 month/ paid them three times 2. Cash net USA- borrowed 1800/330.00 month/paid them three times 3. Ace Cash- borrowed 900.00/205.00 month/paid twice I only get paid once a month and I spend 1200.00 in interest only. I f I could use this 1200.00 to pay them off that would be great I could get out of the cycle.

I had the account charged off and it went to collections, and then back to citi..then when i called today after business hours a rep told me it's no longer at citi- what's the chance it went back to collections? I wanted to settle...and i'm worried about a lawsuit.
