Hi everyone, Just thought an update was needed. I got a call from T & C today confirming that Checkmate cashed their check despite receiving a letter from them stating they don't honor these "types" of arrangments. That makes me feel a lot better that they took the payment. I think the same will go for CashnetUSA. They didn't like the proposal but I did give T & C the go ahead to counter offer a little more each month. I feel less worried about Checkmate now. I suppose they could still sue me but not as likely since I now have proof they took a payment from T & C.

In 2004, I had multiple Payday Loans (PDL’s) and unfortunately I got way over my head, unable to pay them and had to file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy (BK) back in December 2004 as a result of this debt. I had taken out 1 payday loan with the original creditor called (GECC) back sometime in 2004; and put this creditor under my BK petition. In April 2005, my BK was officially discharged and I recived the paperwork in the mail from the BK court. The PDL GECC debt went to the collection agency called Simms Associates based out of somewhere in Delaware.

Hi! I'm so happy I found this site . . . I seriously thought i was the only one with payday loan problems! I live in Pennsylvania, and have read some conflicting information about the laws there. Can someone help me figure this all out? I don't really know what my first step should be or what to do, but my payday is coming up on the 5th, and I'm going to be evicted if these places take all my check again.

I have a question about the impact of refinancing on a credit report. I have an auto loan at this time in good standing. The interest rate is high and my mother co-signed for me because of my poor credit history. As the monthly payments are high, I was looking into refinancing. I applied for refinancing with another bank and was approved (no co-signer) with a lower interest rate. Now, my question is...does this help or hurt my credit? I would like to accept the refinance offer, but do not want to damage my credit that I have worked so hard to repair.
