Debt collection call after filing complaint?

18 years 10 months ago
No validation notice was ever sent to a friend by a CA about an alleged debt. His first knowledge of the collection was when he was served with summons. He will answer the complaint. However, the debt collector called the day after serving the complaint to collect on the alleged debt. Isn't this illegal according to Federal Regulations? Can he state this in his answer to the complaint? Bless you for any help.....

bankruptcy and filing on payday loans in California, HELP!!!

18 years 10 months ago
I have just recently filed for bankruptcy, chapter 7, due to being put on permanent disability and losing half of my income. Anyway, my major concern is that I am filing on 6 payday loans and want some advice on best way to make sure the payday companies don't debit my account for the money. Should I stop payment on my checks? Should I make sure I don't have sufficient funds in the account when the checks come through (May 1st)? Or should I close my account? I am also wondering if I should send a letter to the companies that have a clause that lets you reject binding arbitration.

I have revoke the ach, filed complaint with BBB, AGs, Dept Financial Regulation, I have been dealing with them through the BBB complaint. Today I got an email from the BBB which they tell me thay are have closed the complaint because the company stand with "I have had previous pdl and I have paid them off until recently I have started revoking ach, and they know I sent a cut and paste letter that is circulating in the Internet," I told them that I wanted the account marked PIF and that I had overpaid them by $90 and I wanted a refund.

I thought some people might be interested in what the NY AG's office has posted: (I'm hoping this may help New Yorkers out there) Quote:
Debt Collection Agencies Who Are They? First, the Federal Fair Debt Collection Law regulates debt collectors who contact you on behalf of your creditor. This includes attorneys who collect debts on a regular basis. How May They Contact You? A debt collection agency is allowed to contact you in person, by mail, telephone, telegram or fax.

800-756-9428 - Has anyone worked with CCB?

18 years 10 months ago
Hi, I got home and had an individual leave a message from CCB telling me that this message was in regards to a debt collection. My legal first name is William but he kept calling me Bill even though I don't even go by that name in person. I was baffled because I had just recently checked my credit report and all of my accounts were in good standing. The only thing I have is one credit card, which I pay in full every month, and my student loan, which I am almost done paying off and have paid on time.
