But I wanted to get other peoples opinion on this matter (no not a financial matter either) Ok my daughter is 17 and she came home from school telling me that she wants to join the army and take her training during the summer between her junior and senior year in high school. What would you do if your 17 year old son/daughter told you this? Would you support them with their decission? Or would you try and talk them out of it? I know how I feel about it and hubby has different feelings about it. What would you do?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have multiple PDL's outstanding and am trying to figure out how to approach these companies regarding payment arrangements and the amount owed. I have spoken with several and the amount they state is several hundred dollars over the principal amount.

I'am hitting a brick wall on this one Do I accept offer or reject and take my chances with the SC Law a CA and court?.. My wife has paid 1012.78 on a $300.00 loan whichj MPDL claims is now a balance of $325.00. They are offering a One Time settlement of $162.50. If I reject the offer they claim current amount due of $406.25. I will post both communications below but they are lengthy.

Can someone tell me exactly what it means when my credit report says "Seriously past due date/assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department"? Is this the same as a charge off? I have a card last paid on from 10/2003 and am got served to appear in court or call for a settlement. If anyone has any offerings, it would be greatly appreciate. Do you have to be past due on payments before the credit consolidation company will help you out? Does it get reported to the credit bureau that you have done a debt consolidation etc.?

If I want to send out a Cease and Desist letter to an attornys office stating "I/We have decided that we do not desire to work with a collection agency under any circumstances. I/We will contact the original creditor to resolve this matter directly, as circumstances warrant." Could this really happen? How can you work directly with the original creditor if the original creditor sold my debt to this attornys office? What choices do I have if the attorny now owns my debt?

Langhorne told me today they don't handle storefront pdls. Is there a company somewhere that does? Thanks!

To start off this sad story the orginal debt occured in 1996 with bally's. I signed this contract not knowing anything about contracts and realized a week later just how dumb it was. So I went to bally's (keep in mind I never once used my membership) to cancel my membership. Which of course I couldn't cancel because I only had 3 days to do so and of course no one told me this. It had been a week instead of the 3 days. I tried to talk to them and tell them I did not need this membership because I was going to college. They would not let me out of the contract.
