I have fallen victim to the payday loan trap. I currently have 3 active and 2 in default. I need help to get out of this rut. In addition to that, I have about 3 other accounts in collections. I'm working on sending letters to them all to find out about settlements. What do I do about the PDLs? Tamika

I have two small debts that i have yet to make payment arrangements. One of them is for a Bank One account that went to a collection agency called Unifund which is now at 1300. I tried calling Unifund but I was told my account went to another agency called First Resolutions management. I called them last week and they couldn't find my file and told me to call back the next week because my information might not be in the database.

After a year of making payments, I am ready to make a offer to pay a settlement amount. I will be speaking with the CA representative in the next few days, and my questions are: 1) If I counteroffer an amount to their amount (say $1500 vs $1800 or $2000) on a $2900 debt) {or what realistic amount would a CA expect on this amount} will I have an advantage to get them to accept a lesser amount if I tell them I will submit the payment in full.

Hiya, I'm sure this post will display my ignorance but help me out. I don't have a full understanding of charge off and how it relates to settlement. If your creditor accepts a settlement offer, will it show up on your credit report as a charge off? In every case? In some cases? Thanks!

I am writing this for my mom KYSIDE. As many of you all know she was moving to a condo. Well the weather turned bad and going in and out of the cold she caught pneumonia.
