do I need to star my new credit card.

I heard that if the collector owns the debt and you do NOT wish to pay the debt state: (be sure your tape recorder is on beforehand). You: "It is my policy to never deal with debt collectors who are not representing the creditor. Give me your address so that I may send you a cease and desist letter in accordance with the fdcpa." Does this mean that if a collector buys your bad debt, you do not have to pay them?

what is statute of limitations with the creditor? i have never heard of this. I have been in debt settlement with ADF going on a year. none are settled yet and two are persuing arbitration. should I be wooried because I am terrified. we had over 40,000 in credit card debt and were on verge of bankruptcy, thats why we did settlement. i am so afraid of summons or garnishes. thanks for your time

I want to throw something out to everyone for consideration to see how much support it gets. First let me tell you the story behind it: The other day the subject came up during lunch at my work about PDLs and how they are supported in the state where I live. I work at a law firm and while this conversation was going on, an attorney who was reading the paper joined the conversation. He said that as long as the legislators in our state have ties to the PDL companies, they will never vote against them.

So, am i correct that the credit card companies can call up to any amount of times a day, and tie up my phone with their calls?They switch from one number to another believeing they are the swift ones.I was going to settle with them but, from their own lack of understanding,They will get what i will give them and like it.I have tried ot reason with them and they even talked to my husband and then changed their story when it came time to recieve the payment.And, this was Capital One, the guy had the damn nerve and tell me diffrent.Then, proceeded to tell me how long he has been in the business
