Court paperwork for a court appearance for an old debt

I just received court paperwork for a court appearance for an extremely old debt made by an ex-boyfriend who is now deceased on my Citibank card for approx. $700.00. AA is trying to sue me for that amount plus another $611.00 in interest. I think the debt was a charge off, but I am only just starting my fight. What can I do to avoid court and its costs and the irresponsible behavior of this company over such a small debt that is now a mountain! Thanks :)

Is debt consolodation right for me?

I have 2 credit cards with a total credit limit of $700 which are both maxed out and overlimit. I have a bank account that is $500 overdrawn. I have another bank account that is charged off in the amount of $1500.00. I owe a signature loan of about $370.00 with many late fees on all of the above. I am two months behing on my mortgage. I owe $3500.00 on a car note from a used car lot and $5600 on a repoed truck. I have over $4000 worth of hospital bills and very bad credit score. Could debt consolodation be right for me?

Consumer Affairs Division of Attorney General

I am so excited. I received letters from my Consumer Affairs division that they were forwarding my complaints to Attorney Generals and Division of Banking and Fraud of each of states that I have overpayed IPDLs. I received letters from 2 states today, Nevada and South Dakota stating they are pursuing my complaints with the companies and they sent me a copy of letter they sent to each of companies DEMANDING refunds or face further prosecution for "illegal activities". Now I am waiting for response from companies.

Allied Interstate violating their Merchant Agreement

After reading all the stories about allied interstate, I decided to add mine. Through their conniving, they convinced us to give them money, and we paid via MasterCard. They charged a $9.95 surcharge to use a credit card. This is a violation of their Merchant Agreement, which is a legally binding contract. By violating this, Allied Interstate is breaking the LAW. Would anyone who reads this report them to MasterCard? You can find their violation report form by going to MasterCard's website, clicking on FAQ/Contact Us, and click the link that says Merchant Violations.

Can I get a new bank after bankruptcy?

I have been told that my account with the credit union I am with will be frozen since I have a loan with them also. Do I open an account now with a bank before I file, or wait till after I have filed. Does any one know of any banks that help those who have filed for bankruptcy? Debango

debt resurfacing

I was too trusting in my last relationship. We had a mobile home together and when we split, I let my ex keep the home. My ex lived there for 2 years after I had left and my ex's job relocated to Colorado. Well, without my knowledge, the home was repossessed. This happened six years ago and now the company who had the original loan went bankrupt and some other company picked up the loan. Now it turns out that it will not drop off my credit until 2013. I was secondary owner and I don't know how the loan can re-establish itself as current under an entirely different company.

Collection agency purchased the debt

Is it possible to work with the actual creditor, rather than a collection agency? There's been times because the debt is so old, the original creditor has informed me that the debt has been sold.
