Greetings, I need help with a settlement letter to send to different collection agencies in order to reach mutually agreeable terms with them. I owe 2939.00 in debt all of which is verified to be mine. However, most of this money is from collection agency fees etc and I would like to attempt to cut some of that off if possible. I desire to own my purchase my own condo sometime within the next 1.5 to 2 years and from what I understand banks will look more favorable on me if I pay the debt rather then file bankruptcy. My run-in with CACH comes from a card that was charged off during the first week of November (2006). I had called the credit card company to find out the status of my account and they said that it charged off and gave me the 800 number for Collect America. I immediately called and was unable to penetrate their automated system. Neither my SS# or Account # pulled up any information and there was no way to talk to a live person through that number. I called the credit card company back and they assured me that the account had been sold to Collect America just a mere 3-4 weeks prior.

I have 2 accounts with NCO totallying around $20K. I want to pay these debts but obviously I don't have $20K to pay all at once. I have read so many horrible stories about NCO. Is it safe for me to make payments to them? Can someone give me some advice? I just want to clear everything up. Since my accounts are in collections is paying them (NCO)or trying to file bankrupt my only options?

i GOT A LOAN from Tremont Financial which I defaulted on. I revoked the assignment and they got a judgement. My wages are now being garnished. I filed for bancruptcy (on my own) and sent the paperwork to my employer but for some reason they are saying this is not enough. If I contact Tremont and tell them I am filing, will they have to stop the garnishments?

unfortunately the phone number that you have given me for Consumer credit counseling of America, doesn't work, i searched aroudn for teh company on the internet , came across in your forum, what looked to be the groups website and called thier number, only to find out that the consolidation group doesn't work with anyone in NY state, please help me ASAP!

Should I just send what I can to nationwide by certified mail until I pay my balance of $365.00? And will they leave me alone?

These idiots just contacted my hr director by e-mail regarding my loan that was returned nsf. I told Daryl not to try to debit my account that the money was not there, but he did anyway (as if any of these vipers listen). Does he think that this will make me pay any faster? I am furious and embarassed!I haven't heard from the bankruptsy attorney as yet andI am trying to do this on my own.

What does CPU/CBSD mean on my credit report?

Once I close an account, how long does it take for my credit report to reflect that it was closed? Can you confirm that closing an account helps to raise your credit score as long as you are not simulataneously opening accounts and leave the closed account in good standing?

If you report a card lost or stolen, do you have to still close the account or is it automatically closed?
