The emails were only sent on Monday so I'm guessing they don't know that on Wednesday when they want to put the payments through that my account is closed?? The funny thing is I can settle with everyone of them next week! Should I see if I get anywhere my phone with them or just wait for them to contact me?

I received my first phone call from a rude collector this a.m. I have received nothing in the U.S. Mail nor have had to sign for Certified or Priority Mail from this collection agency. He was "demanding" the certain amount as I was trying to talk to him and he was point blank calling me a liar and telling me that I was telling him a line of crap and I got mad, therefore he started threatning me with wage garnishment..etc. Does this mean they can still sue me even though I am sending a Cease and Decist letter?

I am $29,000 in credit card debt, creditors calling me 6 to 7 times a day from early morning to late night. I can't make pymts now, late charges, overlimit, interest,etc. Been talking to debt settlement. Is this a good program and how does it work, is it okay to sign limited power attny, I just want to close out my addiction, pay my debts and be free of this monkey on my back. Is it against FDCPA laws to leave a recorded message at a phone number that they CA has already been told is not yours, and the message said that they are a collection agency, and they are attempting to collect a debt? I thought that was illegal. I thought they couldn't say anything about collecting on a debt unless they were talking to the person that owed the debt. This phone call came at my parents house. I have paid a debt and now it is being collected again by another company. I find the calls very abusive. If I need legal help to resolve this can I collect legal fees from the collection company if they are wrong and the debt has been paid?
