So does everyone think that there is a need for a public education initiative regarding pdls in hopes that the demand for these loans will shrink?

I have a quick question about collection companies. In order to collect, do they have to be licensed in your state? If so, is there somewhere I can look this company up to see if they are licensed? I'm in California. I'm wondering because I'm waiting on a vlaidation letter from them. :D

i am going thru a divorce and trying to live on my own for the first time. in july i got really sick and i was out of work for two months. i had bills to pay and no income b.c disability takes forever. long story short i am in way over my head in pay day loans and i cant even afford to buy food, much less rent or other bills. my entire paycheck goes to fees. im up to about 7 or more outstanding payday loans. they never seem to go away. i live in NJ and i was hoping someone could give me some advice! im about to lose everything i have.

Hey all - my daughter's grandmother (her dad's mom - he & I are divorced for over 15 yrs now) was diagnosed with cancer about 3 weeks ago. She has surgery this Friday. The docs said it was ok to wait this long for the surgery because "it wouldn't matter now, how long we wait". It's not looking good. This was a preventable situation, which makes me angry, but also so sad for my daughter and the people that know and love her grandmother.
