I live in CA. I received a summons in the mail today that was filed in late Oct 2006 by legal dept of collection agency. Is this a proper way to serve someone? It says on the summons I have 30 days to respond after the summons and legal papers have been served. I am confused. Have I been officially served? If so, is the 30 days to file a response from the date I received the summons. How would the court know when I received the summons? I just want to be sure of how much time I have. A friend told me that they are just mailing me the summons and will officially serve me later.

Regarding allied interstate, how do I file a complaint? The BBB online complaint form does not have allied interstate in its list of companies, so i am confused. Any help is greatly appreciated. They keep calling my boyfriends mothers cell phone, insisting that she is me and harassing her on a daily basis. (I'm sure this isn't something you haven't heard several times) I actually spoke with the man today. He was so concerned with what was being said in the background.

Well I have run into my first hurdle with my 4 payday loans. I requested my loan doucments from each agency, anyhow I received a certified letter from Payday Ok today.

Well I think i know why California voted in a New AG.. Got the letter saying nothing they can do about Payday Lenders go to the Dept of Corps... and they told me it will take 2 MONTHS to hear anything I read all the post about AG taking steps.. I guess i will refile when Brown takes office..

Ok, simple question plp. Or at leat i think it is. I am in the process of trying to fix up my credit. I don't have nor no the names of the creditors or the amounts or when they went to collections. I did get copies of my credit but some of them are not on there. When i try to sign up for debt consolidation they always ask me names and amounts. I don't have this kind of info. Is there a debt repair company that can find out this info for me without me having to go through a bunch of mail that i'm sure i've tossed over the past year.

Back in 7/2002 my husband (of five months) co-signed for a girlfriend's car. She left him, took the car, turned it back over to the Mazda Co and never told Charlie. Months later he was notified by her mother of the facts. He was never notified from the Mazda Company that they had repossessed the car. Upon finding out, Charlie immediately contacted the Mazda Company (by phone and certified letters) stating he would pay-off the debt if he could have the car. His letters were never answered and after numerous inquiries into this, the company quit speaking to him on the phone.

why not have them put there offer in writting and VARIFICATION OF THE DEBT!, and fax it to them 3 times, and you submit your offer in writting and come to an aggreement? Also, why not place in your settlement offer how you will settle this debt? that way it is in your file for litigation purposes if neccessary,as well as lagitimacy of the debt in there possession? :o
