Past payday loan

18 years 10 months ago
Oy! I've posted this twice in the wrong forum, so I apologize in advance. My husband had a payday loan from Payday ok last year. We just recently paid it off, it took 8 months. I'm sure we overpaid. I am in Maryland and just recently found out they are illegal. Is there anyway to get the money that was overpaid back from them in addition to some others? We had several and they were all paid off in Feb of this year. Just wondering as that would be great! Not too hopeful though. We are now in a whole other bind with these pdl's which I am taking control of!

Congrats Tammy!!

I just noticed something..Tammy joined the board on November 2nd 2005..She is 6 days past her one year anniversary! I know that Jessi and Ari and Mishele are coming up on one year in December, then myself and Karen are right after that in February. So congratulations Tammy, think back about how far you've come in a year. Now you're helping others do what you did. You should be proud of yourself.

I just found out the other day PDL's are illegal in MD

18 years 10 months ago
Hi there. I am in Maryland, and as I just found out the other day PDL's are illegal in MD. What about loans that we had in the past, but were paid off completely. For instance, my husband had on with Payday ok. It was recently paid off. However, once I calculate, I'm sure it was well over the limit that I should have paid. It took 8 months to pay it off. I now see that they do not do business in MD. Is there any way to get the overpayment back from them, among other pdl's? Just curious. That would be great though.

Free Speech/RANT

Constitution of the United States of America Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I found this site about 6 months ago because I got caught up in IPDL hell.

Recording phone calls with PDL's

18 years 10 months ago
I have a question . . . . When recording phone calls with PDL's do I need to inform them I'm recording if when I call there is a recorded message informing me they are recording the call? For example: I dial the number xxx-xxx-xxxx Recorded Message: "Hello, you've reached Scam Company X. All calls are recorded or monitored to ensure customer satisfaction." Operator: "Hello, can I help you?" Do I need to say now that I'm recording? Also, I live in a one party consent state, meaning legally I can record as long as I'm on the phone and know that I'm recording.

Did they get you too

just found out this company debited my account and I did not authorize them to. I have turned the matter over to the police department and attorney general's office for prosecution

Great news.... Thanks everyone

Today was the best day I had in a long time. First PAYDAYOK closed my account, said I have satisfied my obligation to them. And 500FASTCASH settled with me for $150(which is what remains as principle). They actually wanted me to give them my new bank account number, I told them I didn't have a new account.(I do, but they don't need to know that). I told them I was only able to pay by money order and if they wanted their money they have to accept this. So they gladly accepted, and I only have $150 due, and it must be postmarked by DEC. 1st. Which gives me a little time..

overdrawn bank account

18 years 10 months ago
My bank account is overdrawn by about $550. Should I tap into my retirement account to pay this? They told me they would charge it off and it would hurt my credit, yada-yada which I don't really care about. What can they do if I just make payments, say in three payments? Thanks
