Can anyone tell me how much better settlement is than bankruptcy? How does it look on my credit report.I am currently talking to a few companies about settlement. I have $25k in cc debt. Am I better off just declaring bankruptcy?

I'd just like to confirm some things I've read here, in all 30 pages of threads! :shock: Wife has 2 old CC debts, dating back to 1999. CT, SOL on an open account / cc, is 6-yrs. Last year's CR (Sept '05) says they are due to be removed this month, from the report.

Me an my husband have fallen into a payday loan trap. We have a few outstanding and can no longer pay them every other week. Does anyone know what happens if I close my checking account so they no longer debit it? Does that fall into the bad check law even though I never wrote any company a check. I don't want to quit paying them. I want to pay what I owe, but what other options are there? I don't want to face criminal charges if I close my account?

Hello all.... I received garnishment papers to my employer, but I want to go and put in an objection at the courthouse. Has anyone out there ever done this or have and help on it? I want to set up a payment plan thru the courts, that's what the lawyer handling this case for the company I owe is saying. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Back in February I borrowed $450.00 from a storefront pay day lender. Car troubles happened and I stopped payment on the check to them. Now they are taking me to court in with a trial date of August 13. Is it still possible for me to make payment arrangements or if it got that far is it to late? Help Thank you
