I received a call from e-processing today. They told me to get a lawyer because I couldn't pay the entire amount due TODAY. I offered to pay 1/2 by 6/30/06, but they wouldn't accept. Is there anything I can do to stop them from suing me? I don't want anyone to come to my job to serve me with papers. I am behind on paying this, but STUPID me, I had a bunch of payday loans out at one time, and I just didn't have the money to pay them. Now I can? Any thoughts anyone?

Discover card offered my a 40% settlement on a $2500 debt. My overall credit is in poor condition. I am trying to turn it around now. I'm in New Orleans and need to buy another family home. Discover will report a settled less than full balance to the bureau. Should I take the 40% offer or pay $2000 for a paid in full report to the bureau ??? Thanks

After reading on here I decided to run my credit report. I have a collection from LVNV. Does anyone know who this is? I have never heard of them and they have never contacted me. It is a debt from 1997 or so it says. Any help would be appreciated.

Since going with T&C I have received very few phone calls from any of my lenders or pdl's. I think maybe 4 at the very most (it has been over a month now). Should I just accept my good fortune or is this not normal and I should expect the other shoe to fall?

I have a question about a debt collector imposing a lien on a paid for home. My mother recently had a judgement from Carmel Financial. It does not say anywhere in the judgement about a lien, but apparently they threatened to do so. Can they at a later dated place a lien on her home? She is trying to sell her property and is unsure if they have placed one all ready or if they are going to. She is afraid to find out fearing they will make her pay and that she will not be able to sell.

Many years ago I signed up for this credit scam from United Credit National Bank. They gave you a "credit card" and then charged most of your limit to a "credit repair" program. I tried to get out of it, and I really can't remember if I paid it, or paid some of it off. I have gotten collection letters over the years from 4 or 5 different agencies trying to collect. It seems like they sell it off to one another. I don't know the exact date of this, but I got this card going on close to 10 years. What is the best way to handle this?
