Hello, My question is, because of our high gas bills, an increase in property tax and having to pay for an over priced car that was a car we co-cigned for (the bank made us sign papers telling us they found a way to decrease the car payment for our nephew, but they put the whole car in my wife's nam,e and we didn't know that) made us get behind in my bills. We found a house we like and want to purchase it after we sell this house, but that may take a long time. Will a consolidation for about $7500 hurt me with getting a house loan?

Hello, I live in the northeast and received a settlement offer from midland credit management (MCM) of Calif, with a telephone company listed as the original creditor. The letter is dated 2 months ago, but it was sent to a secondary address and I just saw it today. The letter says only that I may settle the account in full by paying 50% of the alleged debt by 4/12/06. It mentions nothing about my right to dispute. I am 100% certain this debt is invalid.

I don't know if this has been brought up before or not. I was looking up info on Washington PDL laws and saw that the Moneytree CEO was part of this group Financial Service Centers. I googled it and based on what I have had to deal with with PDL's I was pretty disgusted by what I was reading. They make it sound like it is such an important part of the American economy and that it is totally legitimate and a good way for people to get money. It provides "freedom to manage personal finances". Whatever!!!! I certainly don't feel free.

I just paid off a Payday loan I took out with United Cash Loans (yes, I know, I shouldn't have done that, online payday loans mean trouble blah blah blah). I've learned my lesson on ALL payday loans, not just online, but from any place that has those horrid words in huge letters. For future reference, if anyone takes out a loan with United Cash Loans, be advised it is VERY difficult to pay it off. I took out a $300 PD loan in April and they charged my account every two weeks a $90 renewal fee.

Has anyone had a debt settled through a debt settlement and then had to prove insolvency with the IRS to keep from having to pay taxes on the portion discharged or forgiven? I have heard that if you don't prove insolvency, then you have to pay taxes on that amount... I was wondering if it was hard to prove it and how. I am so far beyond insolvency....

I am a grandmother of two. One of the kids is adhd and lives with us the other stays here so her mom can work. The loan company has raised our mortgage to 1300 a month because we were late when my husband was on strike. They gave us an ultimatum and my husband was desperate so he went and took out payday loans. Now we can't make our credit cards and all the payday loans and the mortgage. They will not work with us at all. This little mobile home is all we have. I can't believe they are such hard *****. No one will help us. Please give some advice for we are going down fast.
