Abacus -Too good to be true ?

19 years 3 months ago
I'm sure you've all come across this one in looking for a loan with less than perfect credit - Abacus. Has anyone dealt with them? I know they charge about $39 for their service. But they guarantee that they can put you in touch with a loan provider regardless of your credit. Too good to be true? I am very skeptical. But I will say this much, I haven't found too much that is negative about them yet. And they seem to have been in biz for quite some time now. Thanks for your comments!

Things are sure looking up for me

19 years 3 months ago
Just a quick update. Things are sure looking up for me. God has been so good. The bank reversed the PDL check they had paid. I still don't know if that means the PDL companies bank takes the money from them but I feel ok about it since I already had payment arrangements set up. Anyway, I was a month behind on my rent so with this last paycheck I needed to pay April and May rent which took most of my check. I wasn't going to have enough to pay T&C.

Avoid Company Charge Cards!

19 years 3 months ago
Company/Individual reported: Shop NBC/World Financial I fell for the hype with TV sales! I purchased a computer thru Shop NBC with the idea that I could purchase an item, with no interest or payments for 12 months. After I applied and was "instantly approved", I received the merchandise. My intensions were to pay off 2 other cards during this period and then start my payments on this item.

Another Telephone Scam

19 years 3 months ago
Got this one from my nephew in Michigan: PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service technician (could also be Telus) who was conducting a test on the telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

settlement vs consolidation vs do it my self?

19 years 3 months ago
Is it worth it to pay a service to handle my debt for me? Could I negotiate on my own with the credit card companies? I owe almost $50,000 on 5 cards w/ super high interest, and CDS says that they will handle it for me at $1055/mo, for $49/mo + the first $1055. Would credit cards lower my rates to 8% if I contacted them on my own?

Help with some info

19 years 3 months ago
I was going over my CR, and under the comments section of my Bank of America it says, "Credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber" on one of the reports, and on the other one it states, "CHARGED OFF ACCOUNT ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CREDIT GRANTOR", I also just received a letter from Capital management requesting payment.
