Does the SOL apply to the state the debt was originated in or your current state of residency? And is a store credit card considered a revolving debt, a contract, what? I need help!!! Thanks!!

Hello- Nice forum here, glad I found it. Anyway, I received a rather disturbing message on my answering machine from CPS Security claiming legal action was about to start in NH regarding the debt they are trying to collect. When I called the direct number given on the message I was basically screamed at and threatened to be sued for a fraudulent credit card charge if I didn't pay the full balance due immediatley. I then told the man I couldn't and he responded by telling me to do what I gotta do and that they would be filing suit. He then hung up on me.

I received this threat today and they faxed it to my work -- I work at a school adn am off this week but now I have to face the women in the office at my job when I go back! They just sent this as a follow up to my email: Ms. Smalls Our loan arrangement was broken from your side and we will have to start with action for entire loan balance which is $661.42. We are giving you 8 days to paid it off by money order, bank account, western union or we will have to file claim at the court.

I have recently started paying my creditors and yes it feels pretty good knowing that maybe one day I can have decent credit. It was told to me that each time you get your credit ran your score goes down. I am ready to see how my credit looks now. Is there a way to check it without messing up? Or is it just when you try to purchase that your score goes down?

My brother was recently served with a subpoena from the usd car dealer he had purchased a car from. He had them take it back in 2003, and they did. Nothing was exchanged. They claim he owes them $6.000.00, threaten to garnish wages, take his car... The car they sold him had many mechanical problems they agreeded to repair but never did. How to proceed? This is a serious matter and all appropriate actions will be taken to collect this balance.

I am sure that I will have lots of questions as I go about cleaning up all of our awful credit. Yesterday I pulled my credit reports and my scores. Oh my goodness they were 485, 486 and 465. I am so embarrassed but I am the only one that put myself there. I have disputed items on my credit reports. Now my next question is should I wait on the dispute results or go ahead and start sending out debt validation letters to some of the collection accounts? I don't know where to go from here.
