I live in Texas, and I don't own anything, so there isn't much they can do to me, but I am just wondering if they can consider funds not being available as writing bad checks, and reporting you to local DA? That would be the only thing that I am worried about. I am going to be closing my bank account and going with debt consolidation to get these paid off.

I just sent out a slew of dispute letter, disputing basically everything on my report because I have debts that are about to fall off( within 6 months) and I have collection agencies now buying them and reporting it on my credit report as last activity within the last month. What in the world is going on? All of the are past the 5 year SOL and within a couple months of the 7 year. Also seeing that the CRA addresses are PO box, what if they do not pick up the letters and they are returned to me???

...by the way, I guess I should introduce myself. I am actually a former debt collector. I had been in the industry for almost 10 years. My career in the debt industry ended this week. I have been very sick, and I was hospitalized (again) and while I was in the hospital, they fired me. Debt collecting stinks. It is a thankless job. Trust me...every person you talk to on the phone is not evil. They most likely have someone breathing down their neck to "get the money." It really is stressful, especially for someone like me, who understands both sides of the story.

I had an inquiry into my credit records by an employer and I only received one letter from one of the three bureaus stating that they released information. Don't the other two have to do the same? I mean I knew the employer was going to check, but I should have received something from the bureaus stating that there was an inquiry by an employer.

I have my credit report and I owe money on 3 accounts. How can I recieve phone numbers to call these collections to make payment arangements? I don't have any statements either.

What kind of credit card can i get with no credit.

I opened a Sears account in 1992; from my recollection, I used the account a few times until 1994 or so. From my credit reports, the highest balance was $68 (I bought shoes). Sears sold their portfolio in 2001, which included this account. It has also been sold to other companies since then.I have tried unsuccesfully to locate the "owner" of this account, as Sears claims they no longer own it. I have been contacted by 3 collection agencies since 1994 claiming that I owe over $402 on this account. I have credit reports from 1998, 2002, 2004, 2005 - none of which show any outstanding debt.
