I was served papers to appear in court March 9 for a debt of $2900 to an apt complex where I moved out of 3 months ago. This is the first notification I've gotten of any debt to them. Is it legal to sue me or get a judgment with no prior attempt to collect the deb?

First I have no past due or late bills. Absolutely none. I received a voicemail message from Allied. I did not call them back because the call sounded so mysterious so I was suspicious. They only left their name and number and they said it was very important I call them back but because of the highly sensitive nature of the matter they couldn't say why they were calling. Yeah right. I immediately did an internet search on their name and found many beware of these people sites. I'm in Florida if that matters. What is your advice since I have no old or current past due debt?
