Hi. If I'm not mistaken, a while back someone in here posted that a library had reported library fines to the three credit bureaus and it was causing them problems. I believe it was over a book that hadn't been turned in. I thought wow, thats strange, I've never heard of that before. Sure enough, tonight I was watching the news and they did a report on this very same thing. A guy hadn't looked at his credit report in over a year, when he did, he found that the library had reported to the bureaus and was on his credit report.

Hi, How do you know if creditors have accepted you into a dmp? Is it necessary for the creditor to contact them directly? Are there any fees for enrolling in a dmp?

Hi! I was wondering if a line of credit with a company is different than a credit card and what would the SOL be in Florida. According to my credit report the date of last activity on this acct is 11/1999 and I live in Florida. I was told that this acct was a line of credit not a credit card. Is there a difference in statutes? Thank you!

I got the official call from T&C today. They have contacted all my payday loan lenders and are waiting for two of my other creditors (old bills which I didn't realize I owed until checking my credit report. I contested the amounts but lost - it was from years ago). ANYWAY, I sent off my first payment today and am SO excited! I am on the road to getting my life and finances back on track! Whoo hoo!

Does the law in Virginia require finance companies to notify you if they are going to repossess your car or can they just come and take it?

Today I received a letter from M.R.S. Associates in Cherry Hill, N.J. This agency is apparently now in charge of collecting a debt owed on a credit card. The balance is $5400, but the letter is offering an opportunity to settle the debt for $1623.36 if we make the payment on or before January 13th. This sounds like too good of an offer, but if this is a legitimate offer I might want to take advantage of it. Any advice?

I am being sued by Citicorp for a credit card balance which I cannot pay. I am not working but I do own my house. I am in a debt reduction program and I have been faithfully putting money in the account there. They have succeeded in settling one of my credit card debts already but I have 7 more to go. Citicorp cannot garnish my wages since I don't have a job but can they take my house, my car and/or garnish my husband's wages? He is not a party to any of these debts since the credit cards were all in my name only.
