Question for any financially resourceful members out here...

I am trying to come up with about $4,000. I am interested in hearing any ideas on where to borrow the money. I would prefer borrowing this without securing the loan if possible. I will pay any reasonable interest rate. Anyone have any good ideas or know of good places to try other than a bank or LendingTree? The banks would probably loan it to me but it would be secured. I could pay it back in any normal term, 12, 24, 36, or 48 months but I would not want any prepayment penalty because I would be paying this off early. I am just looking for any ideas so thank you in advance.

My LLC Closed 2 years ago, now collectors are after me.

I have been reading a lot about my rights when it comes to debt collectors and personal debt, but what about if I owned a business. Here is the quick version. My partner and I had a LLC (both managers) but because we did not have enough business we closed. I just got contacted a week about an outstanding debt because of a cell phone that my partner was using. Apparently they have been going after him for about 1 year and then got wind of my name. Now they are calling me, and I am not sure how to deal.

girlfriends student loans totalling about $15000??

My girlfriend has two student loans, totaling about 15000, that have been sent to collection agencies. She is struggling to pay them and I was inquiring about settlement or consolidation for her. Now I noticed by lookng through some topics on this forum, that most debts on here are credit card debts. I was wondering if student loans are any different? Are there differnt interest rates than credit card debts if consolidation was chosen?

Consolidation and credit scores

I've heard that doing a debt consolidation will actually possibly harm credit score? My wife and I are trying to purchase a house within 3 years, and would like to get all our past bills paid and caught up. Won't it look bad on our credit report that we did a debt consolation?

Mass Debt Consolidation and the best ways to handle it

I am currently married.. and my wife and I have a few things we would like to get taken care of before we purchase our house. Currently... there's school loans(mine's in repayment, her's not repayment yet) a car loan, 2 CC's(only about 800bux total) and then prolly about 5k in misc. bills/debts etc. What would be the best way to combat this? I hate being behind in bills, but sometimes life throws a curve and we get f'ed over. If anybody would like to chat w/ me to advise..would be awesome).

What should I do about being overextended

My wife and I have accumulated close to $60k in credit card debit and personal loans. It all started right after we got married about 6 yrs ago and she couldn't find a job for a few months. This is when the snowball began. At first it was one card then another then we bought a bigger house then we should've. Next thing you know we are having a kid. We both have really good jobs right now and are current on our payments but that is all about to end.

When collection agencies transfer accounts to another agency

On 12-9-05 I sent a payoff check to Vanru Credit Corp. for about $18. On the 17th I get not one but 3 letters stating that my acct. was being handled by midland credit management Inc and I should forward payment to them. However, there was no contact number listed. Ok, Vanru would have had plenty of time to receive my payment and cash the check.
