I had arrangements in writing with Rio Resources and on Friday afternoon a Cindy called my husband place of employment and stated that she was calling from United Legal Corporation and she was an attorney. They immediately notified my husband and he called me with the number and I tried all afternoon to get in contact with her and no one would return the calls. From what I gather, they are just a collection agency with illegal collection tactics. This morning I faxed a cease and desist and a debt validation to them and am also going to mail it certified w/return receipt.

I consoldiated my student loan, but the orginal loan appear stating transfer or brought by another institution. How can I get installment loan off my report. Instead of only 40,000 in installment, I have 115,00 in installments on my CR.

On may 8th 2005 we lost our house to a fire.my insurance company at the time payed for our house to be rebuilt but denied my personal property claim since then i hired a lawyer and she was able to get some of our money back butttttmy bills have gotten 3 to 4 mnths behind i am abuot to loose my house,cars everything because i had to spend my savings on buying furniture and things clothes etc.i spoke with my mogtgage co and they said they need theire money now. forclosure has started but it is not to late is there a letter i cn send them to stop forclosure .i have the money but will they wait.

I am aware of the federal laws but want to get some help in dealing with the nasty statements made by a debt collector. He made this one very threatening saying that he knew me who I am and whom I work for. He even threatened me saying that he will make this whole issue even more troublesome and expensive unless I pay to them. I told the person that after making the payment, I will complain against him. When I reached their office the next day, the receptionist after identifying me called someone from the other cubicle came. A man came and he started mocking me.

What actions can be taken against a debt collector if he has violated the fdcpa law?

A collection agency is demanding money on a debt that took place about 10 years ago. I need to know if I need to pay this debt. This debt was a promissory note to a school. No bank was involved in between and I was supposed to pay directly to the school. I have not attended that school and I find today that the school is also not functional. What should I do?

I have some past credit card debt that needs to be paid. I would like to consider a debt consolidation plan but before that I want to know of my other options if I have any. I can easily pay the monthly payments but am shopping for some lower rate of interest. The cards are no longer in use but the accounts are still active. Please let me know if there are any other options or I will have to consider a debt consolidation plan.

Hi, I moved from Alabama to Las Vegas, NV. In the process I have left debts unpaid while I try to get on my feet here. I would like to pick these payment back up but at this time they are too much for me to afford. What could you suggest as a solution to this delema. in the year 2000 a vehicle was repossessed, no payments were made until a collection lawyer called several times and I made a 100 dollar payment, did I reset my STATUTES OF LIMITATION??, they are threatening with court, and a letter of notification from the law office states that they are taking me to court, please tell me what actions I should take. ok, there is a lot of talk here about how to validate a debt with a collection agency. i'll explain how to do this with success (not guaranteed though!!). first, once an account has been placed with a collection agency, they are required - by law - to send a written notice explaining who they are, who they are collecting for and the amount they are trying to collect. it will also include the name, address and phone/fax # for the collection agency.
