My husband received a subpoena today from an attorney not a court on a vehicle that he turned in in 1996. In Nov. 1997 this attorney placed a judgment against his credit and now today almost 8 years later has received this subpoena stating that he must appear in front of a court reporter and give statement plus bring 1 years copies of bank statements. Has this reached SOL?

I am disputing an inaccurate item on my credit report from a creditor that states I was 60 days late. I have sent them two letters and I have received only one. The one states that the information is correct the other I have not received a response. I have sent copies of my credit report to Transunion. The first one shows the accurate info, and the other (two years later) shows the 60 days late. Without filing a complaint with the BBB or FTC, can I sue them for defamation. I may be turned down for a gov't job because of this.

I, too, have been contacted by many of Ellis, Crosby staff and threatened with all kinds of horrible things, but they quit for a while. But, they've started up with a vengence yesterday, so that's why I faxed the C & D letter. What is the status of the legal action filed against them in Florida? I understand there was a hearing of some kind on the 12th.

In general when negotiating a settlement what can one expect to get. I am currently negotiating a settlement with Allied International over a credit card account with Bank of America, balance is 6200.00 and we are around 2000.00 now. Should I accept or decline. and on what grounds. I have heard of these companies settling for 10cents on the dollar. Thanks
