My credit score is 632 and I want to buy a mobile home so I had a report pulled and I have been working on it to get it fixed. I have disputed several items and in the last month I went from 629 to 632 on my score. I am afraid I am not going to be able to get my home without using my land and I don't want to do that. I really want this trailer... Please tell me how you can help me.

Ways to protect yourself against phony free credit reports

20 years 1 month ago
I wanted to provide everyone with tips on how we can avoid being taken by the phony free credit report sites. They are everywhere. They send us spam, they pop up in pop up windows, they are on web advertisements. It seems as if it is almost impossible to escape the reach of these phony websites. So I have compiled a few tips from bankrate .com that could protect us from these schemers. 1.If is it free, you shouldn't have to pay. Sounds like common sense right. But many people fall for the trap. These websites claim that they are free but they request your credit card number.

Fraudulent free credit report sites

I just wanted to warn everyone about a growing threat to our credit. There seems to be an explosion of websites that claim that they can get you a free credit report. It is estimated that 50 impostor websites are actively luring customers to phony sites. These sites usually end up charging a fee. Ironically, it is the same fee that the three credit bureaus charge in order to obtain their credit reports. Do you know why?

Three ways to a free credit report

I was reading an article and I thought I should relay some important information that could help those in need of a credit report. After my recent identity theft episode, I am very interested in this story. The three ways are as follows: 1. You can call this toll free number:1-877-322-8228 2. You can go to a website and access the information on this website: annualcreditreport.com I suggest that you copy and paste this link because if you misspell this web address, you could be led to a free credit report impostor. So Copy and paste if you use this method. 3.

question about validation

20 years 1 month ago
 Okay, what if you've asked a CA to validate a dept, never heard back from them (sent validation request letter to them in april), and they're NOT on your credit report....only the OC is on it. Can you still write CR and ask for it to be taken off your credit report cause you never got your validation from the CA that has that account (but is listed on CR under original creditor)??? I have several accounts that were 'charged off' and went to collections.

Law school applications and identity theft: I am a victim

20 years 1 month ago
I was going through my mail and I found a letter from one of the schools that I applied to (and was accepted). It said that through an act of theft, someone stole my information, including my social security number. Apparently, someone stole a database that contained student records on a laptop. I am even more angry because I have already withdrawn my application from that school. Why is my name still in their records? This breach affects 44,000 students. So who knows how the thief will try to profit off of our personal information.

Debt Collector

I am in TEXAS I was trying to make arrangements with a collector on an amount owed on a recent mobile home repossession. He stated that the amount that I wanted to pay was not reasonable, and that he would sue me for the full amount, and would also have the right to garnish my bank account for 1/3 of what I had in my acct. I told him that he was not telling the truth and he said that a recent law in TX was passed that would allow him to access my bank account to recover the dept. Is this true. I have searched high and low and cannot find information on a law (if any) that has been passed?
