I have a loan with Advance Me Today. I have paid $192.00 on a $200.00 loan. I found out that this company is not licensed in the State of California. I have filed complaints with the California Department of Corporations, FTC and the BBB. I offered to pay them the $8.00 that is owed for the principal only. I also closed my checking account. They are now harassing me for $248.00 + fees and now the want $326.00. It is my understanding that I am only responsible for the PRINCIPAL amount. What can I do? Do I have any rights? :confused:

I received a letter in the mail from Asset Acceptance, a debt collector, saying my circuit city/chase account is closed. It shows I have a zero balance and says it is not being reported to the credit bureaus. I pulled my credit report after reading the letter and it shows that my account was 'charged off'. I was under the impression that when a debt is 'charged off' it is sold to a collections agency. Did that happen here? Am I going to be hearing from somebody else wanting to collect on this debt?

I live in Texas and for the last three years, a credit card have refused to negociate a settlement. After receiving notice of being sued, I turned it over to an attorney. The credit card is under our company and my name. My attorney sent a letter to the credit card company to valediate the debt. They never responded with any proof. I have no idea of what I am paying in the amount sued. They failed to show how much is debt, fees or if payments were ever applied. Today, my attorney tried to settle but they refused. The credit card company has issued an execution a visit from a sheriff.

Hi. Thanks for providing this service. I racked up about $130,000 in federal loan debt in grad school, then fell in love with a European and moved to Germany. We're married, and are legal residents of Germany (though I still have my US passport). I can't use my degree to work there, as the licensing is completely different, so I can't pay off the loan as I'd planned. I know they can garnish wages and such, but the only work I get paid for in the US is from occasional consulting stuff which is paid directly to me, and I file taxes on that, so there's no tax return at the end of the year.

My husband and myself have about 60k in unsecured credit card debt. We have been able to make all the monthly payments until this past month. Now due to job lose, we cannot make the minimum payments which are around 2 thousand a month. I am not sure what to do because the problem is, I have a 800 credit score, and most of my accounts are sitting at a 3.9% interest rate right now. I am not sure if I should try to get them to lower the monthly payment to make it more resonable for me to be able to afford or what?? I thought about debt consolidation, but I already have a low interest rate.

I had received a payday loan in colorado springs CO back in Nov 2011 for $500.00 full payoff amount was 792.54. the lender was AAFA of colorado inc d/b/a First American Cash Advance. I had paid my instalment of 132.09 from Dec and Jan however in Feb I was unable to go into the ofc and pay due to my disability (unable to drive) therefore I had informed them to go ahead and deposit the last check i made for them of the amount of 510.45 which they did but not till Feb 2/21/12. I was informed by the clerk that I would be paid in full.

has anyone dealt with capital advance capitol payday....they debited my account 30.00 and I have no ideal why I've never did a loan with them, how can recovery my funds.

Can a trustee find out about a debt if you forget to include it even if its not on your credit report.
