Allied Interstate Inc: Do they harass consumers quite often?

Hi
We know that the business of FDCPA laws by a CA results legal action and the consumers can file a class action lawsuit against them.
So what happens when there are shady collection agencies like Allied Interstate Inc still in business? They call people endlessly without any details of the debts and show rudeness. They go against the Mini Miranda disclosure as mentioned in Section 807(11) of the fdcpa. The company is also famous for false representation of the accounts. You can be forced to pay some unknown account because of their wrong contact. Remember, "Allied Interstate" can be sued up to the $1000 depending upon the extent of damages.
I read many of you being victimized by this collection agency. Use the federal laws as a protection against such shady collection activities. Report them to the FTC, BBB as well as the State Attorney General office.
How many of you want Allied Interstate Inc to undergo legal actions. I am thinking of consulting an attorney and put a legal fight against them. I will like all of you to post your experiences here so that it can be documented. After browsing through this forum thoroughly, I picked some threads of their illegitimate business.

  • The illegal activities of Allied Interstate. The poster in this thread said that the company wanted to settle the matter without any documentation. This is illegal.
  • Allied Interstate making threatening calls to the family members. It is illegal as per the FDCPA laws.
  • Here is an example of Allied Interstate not identifying them and making regular calls at work.
  • This collection agency uses profane language and gets in contact with the wrong person.
  • Allied Interstate will try to force you and make a payment on the debt that is past the SOL period. You are under no legal obligation to pay the debt if it is past the SOL period.
  • One more thread about the misdeeds of Allied Interstate Inc.
  • This company does not identify properly while leaving messages on the phone. They keep calling endlessly.
  • Allied Interstate never stops. They contact persons who do not owe any money.
  • Allied Interstate reviews the credit reports without permission.
  • A thread on bombarding phone calls done by this collection agency.
  • Threatening calls starting from early morning and ending just before 9.
  • Allied Interstate harassing whole year
  • Here is the contact address and phone number details of Allied Interstate Inc.
  • Calls get disturbing for someone not related to the accounts.
  • People are getting fed up with allied interstate and their calls. No phone numbers, no e-mails just mailing address but not sure whether it is proper or not. Contacting them is really tough.
  • Confusion is still there on LVNV Funding and Allied Interstate.
  • Allied Interstate Inc not following up with the cease and desist letter.
  • Getting empowered on how to deal with Allied Interstate.
  • Harassment with "person to person"

A new thread on Allied Interstate contacting a wrong person.

:x :x Allied just called me and varified me by first and last name only - then went into a tirade of how I owe and to pay in FULL today.

FIRST, I do NOT owe (NO debt!), second, never varified via D.O.B or last 4 of SS#. Only when I questioned who the company was and what the nature of the call was about did the woman ask about the last 4 of SS#. NOT ME! Then proceeded to be harsh, aggressive, and unprofessional!

I mean who do they think they are? THEY call MY home and ASSUME one thing which is not even the case and then THREATEN ME! I NEVER give information out over the phone and had I been asked about my SS#, I would have given ONLY the first 2 of my last 4 #s anyway, but it would have been enough to make the varification the one they wanted was NOT me.

I get that soliciting a debt is difficult, but they should NOT assume the person they need is the person on the phone. MANY people have the same name. Not everyone is trying to skip on debt either! When I phoned back to speak with a supervisor about this, I was of course, advised the calls are recorded for quality assurance only, to which I replied, "Great because you need to replay my call and retrain that caller!"

The supervisor stated that the line of varification was not proper with my call, but that my yelling (I was NOT yelling, slightly raised voice, maybe, but NOT yelling, and I feel warranted especially since they called MY home and proceeded to give me the third degree over something that had NOTHING to do with me!) was forcing her to hang up on me and that if I called back they'd issue a harassment against ME!

I called back and ended up with the first caller who said I had no right to call them and tell them how to do their job and was hung up on again.

I called again and was told that the matter was taken care of and my name/number was removed. Yea we'll see, now they'll just call me when they are having a dull, boring day to get their kicks. :x :x

These idots call me a lot too. I know I owe money out there, but have never heard of so many of these companies calling me. I Google the numbers and add them to the reports on Whocalledme or whocalledus. These guys supposedly are not the best. I'd suggest reporting them to the BBB as well as the AG.

Interesting that the federal government is supporting this company by charging 25% on a federal student loan AFTER I called to make payment arrangements with them. Once you're turned over you can't talk to anyone but Allied

You can get a better explaination of this by posting it in the student loan forum.

MOD COMMENT: you are charge collection fees by your guarantor 60 days post default, regardless of whether or not you have made a payment plan.

I get one phone call a day from these Allied Interstate morons. They are calling my cell phone number, which I've had less than a year. They leave the same voicemail message...the EXACT pre-recorded, same voicemail message...every time they call. the one time I answered, it was a pre-recorded message asking me to call them back at the same number they had just called me from. I didn't call them back.

I have no debt that is not being paid ON TIME with the holders of that debt. Should I call them back and see what the heck they want, or should I not be bothered and block them from calling me?

For those of you getting calls repeatedly, even on a Sunday... if you have a Smartphone, download Call Firewall. Just google it, it seems to be available for download in many places. You will still see that these half-wits have called, but the phone hangs up on them before it even rings. You can configure the software to only accept calls from your contact list.

I just check my credit report today, and I saw in my credit report was posted a negative account by Allied Coll, and when I click for detail, it doesn't show me any address or phone number that I can call back to find out. What can I do, how can I contact them to solve this matter, After read some story in here, I feel so bad. They post that the original creditor is CONTINENTAL CURRENCY which I know I have nothing to do with that creditor. Can anyone help what action to do with this case, and how can I get the address and phone number of that Allied Coll?

I have recieved one letter in october saying we owed allied interstate money for an old cell phone bill which we do we had lost the letter and with christmas and things we didn't get it paid. The end of January they called back I had asked them to send me something in the mail stating an account number and an adress so i could send a personal check. They said they have already tried to collect with a letter and are only required to send one. They wanted to do a check by phone. I told them repeatadly that i do not give that information over the phone and for my records that i like to pay such bills with a personal check. They call me again on feb 9, i said i have no problem paying them if they send me a statement in the mail. they said it would be easier for them to go check by phone or debit card again i refused to give my personal information over the phone. Tonite february 16th they called again after a few managers later i got one i could kind of understand because they don't speak english plain as day. They refused again to send me a statement saying they are only required to send one and we have recieved that in october. they wanted a check by phone i refused. The man on the phone had asked if i ever gone to school YES he insulted my intellegence. telling me if i send them a personal check by mail that anyone could get my account information and they promised me it was safe to give check by phone i refused saying i don't like to pay my bills that way to please send me a statement. he again wanted a check by phone. i promised i would pay by the 26th of the month by personal check then he told me he had my husbands social security number and he could call my band and get my account information because he had my husbands and my social security number. He also said he could three way with my neighbors because he had my address it took him three min and he started naming my neighbors finally i was pissed at this point i called on my neighbors he threated to call on my cell phone i called her cell phone told him go ahead call my neighbor on her phone. he never did but i told my neighbor what was going on she said she wouldn't give her info over the phone either. i had hung up on allied interstate and they repeatadly called me back my neighbor listented to it for three minutes my 5 year old son would answer the phone and tell them to shut up stop calling at one point he told them to go (*^*# off. I am wondering do i have to pay check by phone they told me i was refusing to pay because i would not go check by phone i am thinking they are refusing payment because they do not want a personal check oh ya at one time they wanted me to western union it too lol

These people call my cellphone all day long. When I answer there is nothing but air. When I call the 888 number back nothing happens. I owe an old payday loan from 2003. When I applied for the loan I had to give my aunt's name & number as a reference. They actually called my aunt tonight and told her that they were going to send my matter to a court in Mass next week. What right do they have discussing this with her? This is my debt - not hers. When I called back I got the 'receptionist' - she told me she couldn't help me so she would forward me to someone. She then came back and told me that line was busy. I told her I would call back later and asked what right they had talking to someone about my case. She told me to stop being nasty. She then wanted to know why I couldn't talk to her.. I asked why I would talk to the receptionist about my case - if she could help why did she try to forward my call. She then told me I could give her some info and the debt would be resolved. I hung up.. Even though I do owe this company - I am not comfortable paying them anything..

Here is some ammunition for all that are being harrassed by Allied...their address! Simply send a certified letter telling them NOT to contact you further according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If they persist..sue them!

Hope this helps someone!

I changed around my phone plan to help my parents and put them on my plan in July 07. However I was never notified and neither were my parents of some unknown usage charges (parents had phone for less than a month). Cingular now AT&T never sent us a bill and Allied Interstate never called, it wasnt until I bought a car did I see a collection on my credit report. My Credit had dropped 120 points for a late 59 dollar charge money I most surely have If I can afford a new car. Im just very angry at all of this crap. So thanks to Cingular who failed to notify me or inform me that my parents bill would apply to my credit by putting them on my plan.

I was just going over some of my bills recently and found a letter from Allied Interstate. I looked online and the first website I found was this. I can't believe how many of us have had problems with this so called company. They actually called me one day every single hours. Its the truth every one. My husband even tried to talk to them and they would not tell him anything. I tried to talk to them but did not recognize the so called debt. The letter I recieved in the mail states the client that is trying to collect is IMP. Does anyone know who that is? I dont.

Allied Interstate hit my debit card for $192.62 last week. I have never recieved a phone call from them, I have no outstanding debts for that amount, and I did not authorize the charge. It looks like they picked up the number off the internet as the charge shows up as an internet charge. Luckily the bank is disputing the charge and will credit me back the amount plus all the overdraft fees that were caused by this charge.

In defense of allied who just 2 mins ago called me, That is why i am investigating. They are not allowed to give any info that may lead anybody other then the debtor to believe they are a collection agency. That is part of the hippa privacy law. If they give any info they can be sued. I told the man it wasnt me of course. he refused to give me any info.

I was SO happy to find this site.
My mother has been getting phone calls from this # 5 times a day EVERY day of the week. Including Sunday.
The calls come in as early as 8AM & continue as late as 10PM CDT.
Most of the time it is only dead air when she answers.
Occationally there will be a Statement saying "Please hold for an important messgage" with a very foreign acsent. Once she did hold & no one ever got on the line. I have informed her I found the # associated to this Allied Interstate Co. & the infomation posted here. She is going to contact our state's attorney.

does anyone know if its legal for a collection agency to garnish my paycheck when im recieving public assistance? I have tried to file for a hardship but the collection agency wont give me any options. I offered them 50 bucks a month and they told me they wouldnt accept that because they can garnish and get more.

Just a bit of useful information that someone told me. When allied interstate starts calling wait it out 6 months. In the 6th month call them back and act casual and say that you are looking to settle the debt for 30% of the original balance. They will say no way. Dont give up. Just say "oh well, thats all i have. i figured i'd give it one last shot before filing bankruptcy" Then either that person will settle with you or wait a day or two and call back and the next person will settle. Just be sure to save all of your paperwork. The account i settled popped back up 6 months later under a different account number. I had to fax over the paperwork from allied interstate that showed i had already settled the account. I'm still dealing with it. These people are really scammers.

I get a call from them everyday until 1 day i was so upset i decided to walk out of work and answer it (They always call while i am at work). So when i answered i get this RUDE and attacking young girl wanting to speak to me, when i asked her who she was, she starts to yell at me saying that i owe them money and i asked her what her company was again because NEVER have i delt with them nor her and when i asked her how come they didnt leave a message as to the perpouse of the call she starts yelling again saying that i need to pay my debt. So again i asked her what company was this for, and she said Allied Interstate. I told her unless she wanted to give me the name of the "REAL" company i owed money to, she had no business calling me because i had never done business with them and if they did not stop calling or provide valid information that i would have my lawyer contact them to settle these legal actions. when i asked her for the company's busniess license, the managers name and the phone number, this RUDE woman started to yell at me again and thats when i ended the call. Please email me if we can file a class action law suit as I am contacting my friend who currently works at the attorney generals office here in Nevada to get some backing on this. I hear the AG office is trying to put a stop to this company as well. email address removed as per forum rules - Mike

I've read and re-read and researched every complaint and files about the Allied Interstate and I've seen in and out of their procedure and I learned that they've established an accurate protocol on collections which are all drafted in accordance to the FCPDA. Also, they have competent training procedures in which they present all law states accurately. They have appropriate recordings and quality monitoring systems that undergo screening compliance in accordance to the FCPDA and state laws.
I think with what I've learned Allied Interstate is doing its job.

These people are so horrible. I set up a payment plan to pay off my debt and I had to call and re set it up for a different amount. They however took the original amount and made me over draft. They 1st lady I talk to had a very bad attitude. I have yet to talk to the right department to get it settled. I have to work and there only open during my work hours I can only take so many breaks. When I do call they want to put me on hold forever does anyone have any advice on how I can get this solved or who it is I should contact?

This company is ridiculous when it comes to contacting the wrong people. I was listening to my favorite radio show this morning, when all of a sudden, a name caught my ear...."...collection agency....Allied something-or-other...calling for the wrong person"

I instantly turned the radio up. Yes, it was our old friends, Allied Interstate, calling the radio show host, claiming he owed $684 to Sears, and demanding he pay up. He informed them twice before when they called him that he was not the person they were looking for. And get this - the debtor's name was only the same as his as far as the first name - Bob - that was the only similarity in their names!

Needless to say, after two phone calls, he went off on them and let them have it with both barrels. He informed them that he was not the debtor they were seeking, never shopped at Sears, never had a Sears charge card, and proceeded to tell them to go jump in a lake (so to speak - pretty sure he didn't use those words).

He said the last thing he heard as he slammed down the phone was the woman on the other end screaming at him, "I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO THAT KIND OF...."!

He also mentioned that in the past, he's told her she should have more pride in herself and get a better job! LOL

I waited until I could get a recording device for my phone, because I live in New York and it's legal to record phone calls here, before returning a call to Allied. The person I spoke to said his name was Sam Arnold (with a thick middle-eastern accent?!). He wasn't abusive, BUT he did lie through his teeth. When I requested that I only be contacted through the mail, and to recieve no more phone calls (which is my right to request and that they legally need to comply with), he said he couldn't guarentee that the phone calls would stop. Only after I told him that I would be sending a cease and validate letter (which, unfortunately I have to wait on until I can get an ink cartridge) did he tell me there wouldn't be anymore phone calls. That was on the tenth of this month.
He made the claim that I owed a debt from 2005 to BMG music services. One big problem - I went through all my cd's looking for the ones I bought through BMG when I was still a member years ago, and the most recent CD I have from them is dated 1999. If the debt was from 2005 (and, if it was real), wouldn't it make sense that I'd have music that's a little more recent?
He also made a few more claims that I know are illegal after reading the fdcpa.
Now, for the past week, I've been getting "unknown" numbers on my caller ID, which is what Allied did to me many times before I called them back. I'm going to call the number on my caller ID - the latest one is 866-226-3222 - and get that on tape, too. I'm currently loking for a lawyer in my area that handles these types of things to see if I can use the tape to sue for at least fraud and misrepresentation, if not also harrassment and whatever else.
BTW - If you can record phone calls in your state, the equipment I got (tape recorder, tapes and a connector for the phone) came to about $80. Big chunk of change for someone like me recieving SSI, but if it helps to stop them, then it's worth it.

Allied went as far as move funds out of my wifes checking acct and pay down my daughters AMEX debt, without permission! They were rude and crude, impersonating attorneys and very intimidating. I have hired an attorney to sue them.

These people were looking for my husband, but they called him by his first initial and middle name and did not use his last name. Very odd. She would not say why she was calling but did identify her company. I immediately googled them and found this site. It has given me lots of information and ammo for dealing with them. Thanks for having this site.

I have been getting calls from them for the last week about a debt. I am not sure if the debt is valid and they told me that I had no right to receive a written bill from them. They demanded my checking/credit card account number and said that I HAD to give it to them or they would continue to call. They said that they will only accept payments in one lump sum and that any small payments would be sent back. I kept saying that I would not give my information over the phone and that I wanted a written bill. I finally hung up when they started getting rude and yelling at me. They have continued to call 6 or 7 times a day between 8 am and 8 pm. work on overnights from 10pm to 7 am and they are preventing me from getting sleep.

Are there any federal of Illinois state laws that they are violating by doing and saying these things?

I received my first call from Allied Interstate Yesterday. At first I thought that someone was trying to "Phish" me for my SSN and credit card information. The representative never stated who he worked for and said that the bill was for a Verizon account from 5 years ago. Since this is the first time I have ever heard of this debt existing I asked for the Rep to send me something in writing regarding the account and I promptly called Verizon.

Verizon ran my SSN, First Name, Last Name, Middle Initial, previous addresses and telephone numbers and informed me that although their billing systems go back 10 years and that all accounts that are sent to 3rd party collectors are still stored in their system. There was no record of any delinquent account in my name.

I called AI and spoke to a very polite representative who gave me all of the details that they had on the account which I have documented. If for any reason it becomes apparent that I do owe this debt and it has some how gone over looked and misplaced by Verizon's internal billing system, then I have ever intention on paying.

However, after googling AI I am completely shocked by the amount of claims against this company. I previously worked for a large "Creditors Rights" law firm and I am very familiar with the fdcpa.

Where I worked, any of the described behaviors that some of you have experienced would have resulted in the IMMEDIATE termination of the offending party. Also, as has been mentioned several times before in this thread, send certified cease & desist letters and /or disputes. Even legitimate collections agencies can make mistakes and I have personally witnessed cases where the firm I worked for had to pay the "collectee" $1,000 per call made or letter sent after receiving a cease & desist letter and in every case the calls were made or letters were sent, due to human error such as not properly flagging a file as "DO NOT CALL" or a call was placed because a collector did not properly review the file prior to initiating the call.

I am shocked that AI has continued to stay in business. I'll keep you posted on how things develop with my circumstances.

Also, in my experiences, Threatening & cursing is strictly prohibited by the FDCPA. A collector can not threaten to sue you unless they are actually in preparation of doing so. Record your conversations and notify the collector that you are doing so.

Good Luck, and if you owe it, try to pay it, but do not subject yourself to this kind of mistreatment in the process.

I get calls from Intellirisk every single day, starting at 8:30 a.m. sharp. They claim they are with Allied Interstate and how do I propose to settle my debt with Citifinancial ?. I tell them every day that I was disabled about 3 years ago and I am not able to work. Well then how do you eat ?, how do you pay your other bills ?. I tell them that my wife gets a small disability check and that's all we live on. I am then told that I am a thief, because I bought things and are not paying for them !, so that makes me a thief. I am told that I could get a job talking on a phone, since that is what I'm doing talking to them ?. Then they tell me that they will call me every day until this debt is paid. They say by " law " they can call me every single day as long as I owe this debt ?. Can I get them for making false accusations or defamation of character, or mental deress ?. I also suffer from severe depression and bi-polar. Just curious ?.

Regarding Allied Interstate, how do I file a complaint? The BBB online complaint form does not have allied interstate in its list of companies, so i am confused. Any help is greatly appreciated. They keep calling my boyfriends mothers cell phone, insisting that she is me and harassing her on a daily basis. (I'm sure this isn't something you haven't heard several times) I actually spoke with the man today. He was so concerned with what was being said in the background. He heard my soon to be mother-in-law call him a telemarketer and was offended, in return he got rude with me saying "pay yo billz, pay yo billz" . (I love how professional it sounds). So I snapped. I tried to call back and get a supervisor (that was fun) He intern got smart again, transfered me to someone (who obviously wasn't a supervisor or manager) and I left a message, never got a return phone call. To shorten my story , we were called six times in a matter of 10 minutes . We were all furious and didn't get anywhere with this matter. I just want to make payments (I own $214.00 By the way) and I want some type of action taken with this company. So if anyone can help please let me know my email is email address removed as per forum rules - Mike
in the subject put (help with allied) or something along the lines of that.

Thanks
Stephanie

I have been in contact with this company for 30 days now. At first they refused to take any kind of payment except for over the phone. They have hung up on me, made threats about destroying my credit, and have even cursed at me. When I asked for a supervisor I was told no. When I asked for verification of the dept I was told no. What can some one do to stop these people. I have never spoke with someone so nasty and threatening before on the phone. If anyone has any information that might help please email me email address removed as per forum rules - Mike

Draft a cease and desist letter to Allied Interstate's mailing address. This should legally stop them from calling your place. Find the sample letter in this link

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/template-cdletter.html

If they still continue calling your home, sue them for the fdcpa violations and get compensated for the damages.

Wow, am I suprised at all the negative feedback for a company I worked for, I just came online to find out their address for a resume and did a yahoo search. But, it doesn't suprise me. I was not one of the employees who used to use illegal tactics to collect but I had witnessed it in person. Yes, I worked for them but if any "debtor" disputed and could provide me proof that they did not owe the debt, I went out of my way to have their names removed from the list. I was one of the companies top collectors and always used tact, negotiation and debt consolidation techniques to resolve my accounts. I wish all those of you who have had bad dealings with them the best of luck. Either they are no longer in business or working under a different name because I couldn't find the address for them.
