Allied Interstate Inc: Do they harass consumers quite often?

Hi
We know that the business of FDCPA laws by a CA results legal action and the consumers can file a class action lawsuit against them.
So what happens when there are shady collection agencies like Allied Interstate Inc still in business? They call people endlessly without any details of the debts and show rudeness. They go against the Mini Miranda disclosure as mentioned in Section 807(11) of the fdcpa. The company is also famous for false representation of the accounts. You can be forced to pay some unknown account because of their wrong contact. Remember, "Allied Interstate" can be sued up to the $1000 depending upon the extent of damages.
I read many of you being victimized by this collection agency. Use the federal laws as a protection against such shady collection activities. Report them to the FTC, BBB as well as the State Attorney General office.
How many of you want Allied Interstate Inc to undergo legal actions. I am thinking of consulting an attorney and put a legal fight against them. I will like all of you to post your experiences here so that it can be documented. After browsing through this forum thoroughly, I picked some threads of their illegitimate business.

  • The illegal activities of Allied Interstate. The poster in this thread said that the company wanted to settle the matter without any documentation. This is illegal.
  • Allied Interstate making threatening calls to the family members. It is illegal as per the FDCPA laws.
  • Here is an example of Allied Interstate not identifying them and making regular calls at work.
  • This collection agency uses profane language and gets in contact with the wrong person.
  • Allied Interstate will try to force you and make a payment on the debt that is past the SOL period. You are under no legal obligation to pay the debt if it is past the SOL period.
  • One more thread about the misdeeds of Allied Interstate Inc.
  • This company does not identify properly while leaving messages on the phone. They keep calling endlessly.
  • Allied Interstate never stops. They contact persons who do not owe any money.
  • Allied Interstate reviews the credit reports without permission.
  • A thread on bombarding phone calls done by this collection agency.
  • Threatening calls starting from early morning and ending just before 9.
  • Allied Interstate harassing whole year
  • Here is the contact address and phone number details of Allied Interstate Inc.
  • Calls get disturbing for someone not related to the accounts.
  • People are getting fed up with allied interstate and their calls. No phone numbers, no e-mails just mailing address but not sure whether it is proper or not. Contacting them is really tough.
  • Confusion is still there on LVNV Funding and Allied Interstate.
  • Allied Interstate Inc not following up with the cease and desist letter.
  • Getting empowered on how to deal with Allied Interstate.
  • Harassment with "person to person"

A new thread on Allied Interstate contacting a wrong person.

How do I obtain a debt validation (DV) letter?

These people are rude they were calling for a person that does not live here. I explained to them that I have a private number and i am in the no calling list and there response was who cares. well who cares if you are calling the wrong number and interrupting my time.

They called parent's home to asked about son. He knows of no reason they would call, but when we called them back they asked for our Capital One Credit Card number. We don't have a COCC.

I have just received a dept. from Allied Interstate in regards to a $711.00 amount that they say I owe to a past qwest account. It is now 2:34pm on 04/25/2009. I payed qwest the full amount on the last bill I was sent after I had closed my account with them, in October of 2008. I have not received any bills from them nor any phone calls for any past amount due that I owe. Now are there any suggestions on what I should do?

allied interstate has been hounding me for three years ... they garniseed my salary ... i borrowed $2300 in the 60s and to date have paid over $10,000 ... now i am recovering from rectal cancer surgery and am on chemotherapy and unable to work and they are calling me again ... do they truly represent the Department of education ? is there anyway i can get them off my back ... i would be reluctantly willing to deal with the education department but i don't want to give any more money to these bloodsuckers ...

Allied is a US department of education vendor. Once a student loan is assigned to a CA, the DOE will not work with you. And a $2300 loan will add up over 40 year...interest, capitalized interest and hefty collection fees. It will not go away. They only way to resolve a defaulted federal loan is to pay it off. They will garnish SSDI and SSI.

Just changed my number a few weeks ago and started getting calls for the previous person (must have screwed a bunch of businesses and skipped).

FYI: I have worked in the debt collection industry and can tell you that the people calling get about 10-15 hr PLUS % of monthly collected that month so volume (lots of calls) is important and required. Returning calls of people who want to have their number removed is not going to happen 99.99% of the time. They are not just low priority, they are NO priority!

What I have done is put a block on those numbers so that when they call, they will get a recording saying that "calls are not being accepted at this time."

After a couple months, they give up and sell the account to some other bottom feeder.

Remember, it's not personal, it's just business.

You are just a potential commission check and nothing more to them so don't take it personal.

But if you do owe and it's within statute of limitations then do try to work it out, if not ignore, send cease and desist letter certified or change number and don't use that number on any paperwork to anyone and get unpublished, unlisted (extra monthly but may be worth it).

Or block that number for a while. Ask your provider if you don't know how to...

Hope this helps someone have a better day!

That happened to me, too (new number). I just got another number and requested the phone company to only give me a number that had not been in use for 6 months or more.

Soaplady,
I guess it's the luck of the draw. I have a 22 year old student loan of about $4000 and the State of Calif. DOE not only offered to remove all the interest, they offered me a settlement of $1500 (and yes they sent that in writing right away)!
Unfortunately, I couldn't pay it :( - I've never had $1500 at one time in my entire life (except once, and that was severance pay).

Guest, send them a Cease & desist letter.

These idiots keep calling me asking for someone who never lived here and I do not know. They are extremely rude. I have had surgery and am trying to recover but these arse holes keep interupting me while I'm sleeping. This last time he said his name was Steve and caller ID showed724-209-6600. I want to speak with this clowns boss. OR should I make a road trip and personally visit them when I am healed? they have been told numerous times we don't know them, they don't live here, put us on do not call list, don't call back.

Allied keeps calling my home phone and asking for someone who I don't know and have told them so. I called the number back and they asked for my Capitol one credit card number. I have never had one, ever. Told them so. This is the forth time they have called, and today I told them I would go after them for harassment. They said they would take my number out of their system. Heard that before. These people don't care who they go after. How do you stop them. The person they are after is not at my number, and they won't listen. This is very unnerving to have this happen daily.

Allied Interstate is a monster. They will not give me details, they will not send anything in writing, they are rude and they lie.

They are reporting on my credit, and will not work with me with a payment plan. They want all money upfront with a high interest rate and continue to report on my credit as someone other than Allied Interstate. This prevents me from getting a job and a car. What actions can I take?

they keep calling five, sometimes six times a day for a bill that should have been cleared. They are harrassing us for something that should have been taken care of under the warranty instead of being filed as an insurance claim. If it had been filed like it should have, we wouldn't have owed any money, but they filed it as an insurance claim and charged me for two deductibiles, and they keep adding it up each month. Now Allied calls multiple times each day, from early morning into the night. They even call weekends. They shouldn't be allowed to harrass people like this. We have changed our cell phone coverage due to this, now they are also charging us early termination fees and collection fees. They are so wrong.
I don't know who to turn to , to get this resolved. When you are disabled and on a fixed income, you do the best you can, and folks like this just keep beating you down. How do we get this resolved?

I am receiving calls from early in the morning to late at night, sometimes as many as three a day. When I answer the phone nothing has ever been said, the is an immediate click on the line sounding like they have hung up. I have actually called the line that shows on my caller ID. When the phone is answered, I get a sound like a fax machine. I did not even know what this company was until I just looked it up on the internet. What do I do? I have NO debts at all.

I received a call from Allie Interstate asking by my landlord by name, (I assume that they simply looked up property records and did a phone # search by address). My wife answerded and they claimed to be a loan company. When she told them she was not the person in question they accused her of lying and hung up. I returned the call and the number was unlisted but google earth was able to show a location in LaGrange KY. The first clue that something was wrong was that the call was answered. Most companies don't take incoming calls on there outgoing lines. The person said he was in Columbus Ohio. When I challnged him by saying that I was looking at his location on Google he said that our number had been removed and hung up. It was difficult to tell on google as there was a small 1 story office building in the pictur but it looked as though the call may have originated from a single family home.

I have a civil suit pending against AT&T who have turned over a bogus debt to Allied Interstate Inc. Now I have Allied calling me twice daily trying to collect. Since they want to get involved in my affairs I thought I would include them as a co-defendant but i'm having a problem finding who their Agent of Process is or a name of a person that I can have served. I reside in Mississippi and my e-mail address is e-mail removed for your protection - ND . If anyone can e-mail me with information on this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

Please do not post personal info on a public forum - ND

Dear David,

I'd like to know what the appropriate steps are in resolving my issues with Allied. They have not been harassing me but reading this makes me hesitant to contact them. I feel like the flood gates would open and I too would suffer from their harassment.

It is likely that I do owe them a small amount but I am seeing it on my credit report THREE times! All different account numbers and dates BUT the same amount. I highly doubt that is accurate.

So how do I get a copy and verify these debts from the company without allowing them into my world? Do I email them? Do I call them from a blocked number? Do I mail them a letter?

~Or~

Do I simly dispute all three of them thru the reporting credit agency? And by doing so, will I then receive a copy of the legitimate bill?

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

CD

I use to live with a man who had some debt and Allied Interstate called him - he died in 2005 and they are still calling me because he use to live here and when I pick up the phone to tell them to take me off their list, there is no one there. They call me 4-5 times a day - does anyone know how to get them to stop calling me about a man who has died already!!!
Thanks for all your help, if you can help me.

Hi, I need some advice as to what to do when Allied Insterstae calls (caller ID) but when you answer, there is noone there? Music plays and noone comes to the phone. This is annoying to say the least, and has been going on with two phonecalls a day for the past three weeks.

I purchased a part to repair a pc from Allied Interstate website for $60 because i seen they had the lowest price on it and had great reviews on their website. We needed that part to fix our pc. I did not check the company out. My card was charged for the item. One week later I get the phone calls from Allied Interstate claiming they had some info for me. I gave them my ss number as they requested and they informed me they if I dont pay up right now for a past due account that I will receive a subpoena from the Justice Department by the end of the month. Im very afraid of what is going to happen so Ill probably contact an attorney to see about bankruptcy because we are already in financial crisis anyway.

I have been getting calls from Allied Interstate (words on caller id) We are within a few months of paying off debt with debt counseling service, so I don't know if they are calling with a legit debt. Either way, after reading many websites about how bad AI is, I've had NO plans to answer their calls! I can go as long as they can. They call, I don't answer. Please advise for ways to handle this.
Thank you!

We are awakened EVERY morning at 8A looking for a person we've never heard of. They always say they'll remove our number but the call comes in the following morning.
Is a harrassment suit out there?????

I have been woken up twice this weekend by this company trying to collect an unknown debt. They start the calls before 9:00 and when you answer there is no one on the other end of the line. I called the number back several times leaving them not so nice messages about their illegal practice and harassing tactics. What gives these people the right to call at the time they do on weekends? I am not taking this lightly any longer and have left several messages demanding an explanation. Please let me know how I can join in the class action law suit against them as I will surely be willing to add some fuel to the fire. This form of telemarketing is not right and I want it stopped. Thank You

I work for a collection agency and I am tired of you deadbeats who don't pay your bills then whine and cry when people like me call you.

We are going to KEEP calling and calling until you pick up the phone and pay your debts like mature and responsible adults.

Don't answer? Cute. Send a cease and desist? Even cuter! We WILL get our money in the end -- and MORE! -- when we sue your deadbeat butt.

They still are not subject to the No Calls List. You have to utilitze your rights under the FDCPA by requesting no calls in writing for residential numbers to be in effect.

Right, which does not conflict with what I posted earlier.

These idiots began calling my house asking for my brother in law. I have no idea how they got my number, because we have completely different last names and he did not EVER put us down as a reference to anything. How do they even know we are related? These people have been calling relentlessly, and when I called them today demanding a few answers, the woman cursed at me and hung up. This is crazy! How is this "business" still open??

I have received a phone call from Allied Interstate, they left a message with a phone number but did not ask for anyone in my home by name. I do intend to call them because only my son and I are here and as far as we know we have no outstanding debts. What information should we give them, because they obviously did not ask to speak to a particular person.
