Hi All: I would just like to get people's thoughts on credit scoring and reporting. Do you think due to the economy that they will change the way the credit scoring is and/or reporting to make it easier for us regular folks to get credit?

I would certainly hope so. This business of being allowed to place things on credit reports without first sending letters should be stopped. They should be forced to validate things before being allowed to tarnish your credit reports. Many of them are not sending letters, but are instead plugging up credit reports with false information and debt that is way beyond the SOL. True there are some legitimate things on credit reports, but there are also alot of erroneous information.

Thanks so much for your reply MochaBronze. I agree 100%. Who has the time to clean up reports that they have tarnished. Then we have to pay usually to get them. I know I cannot change it, but it sure does make me angry. Do you know if you can get rid of inquiries on your reports?

It needs to be more laws enforced for debt collectors, especially the ones that know full well that the debts they are trying to collect are out of SOL. Even more important is the fact that they should not be allowed to ruin people's credit reports with invalidated debts. I am not saying all debt collectors are bad, but a big percentage of them do not follow laws. In addition I think all states need to make it so that they MUST validate within 30 days instead of not responding at all. Some of these crooked debt collectors simply do not validate because they are not FORCED to do so.

I am not sure about how to get rid of inquiries on credit reports. Maybe someone else can answer that question.
