i am still getting letters from an agency for a credit card from 7+yrs ago. its not even on my credit report anymore. is this illegal? how do i get them to stop sending them?

How's about some more info, so we can give you a better answer?

Who is the CA that's pestering you, how much are they pestering you for, and what state do you live in? You can likely just send them a cease-and-desist letter to stop contacting you, and have the whole thing go away at this point, at least until they sell it to some other bottom-feeder. Gimme some more info, and let's make sure of your situation first.

Nope, is not illegal. The debt is still owed and is collectable....it doesnt matter that the SOL has expired and is no longer reporting, the debt still exists. The just can't report it and although they can attempt to sue you, you would have an affirmative defense to avoiding a judgement. So do not ignore any summons you might get. Failure to respond or appear after being properly served would result in a judgement against you.
