Arrow financial
Hello, I have gotten phone calls and two letters from arrow financial services. I told them that I do not owe this debt, as I paid it off 3 or 4 years ago with another credit agency. The proceded to scream at me , and then at my mother over the phone! I am now trying to contact the company I origally paid so that I can get these arrow people off my case!

kad3eagle,
Contact your original creditor and the collection agency (CA) who you paid the amount. Don't you have any proof of your payments, like receipts from the CA, check stub etc? This could help you at this situation.
Also file complaint against this CA that is harassing you and your family. You must know that third party debt collectors should maintain some decorum set by FTC under the laws of fdcpa. They cannot harass consumers while collecting debt. Contact BBB, FTC and AG's office of your state and report against them. Keep us posted.

I am working with them now. I have a balance of just about $800 from a charged-off credit card and have agreed to pay $100 per month until it is paid in full. I have done this via electronic payment for three months now without any trouble. This month, I knew I would be late with the payment so I called, spoke to the person I had been dealing with and he was fine and noted the account.
I am sure everyone has a story, but thankfully, my experience has been positive. AF provided validation upon my request and was very good when coming up with a payment plan. They have also provided all agreements in writing.
Arrow Financial are Criminals
I was given a settlement offer from them and paided it. Now they refuse to report it on my credit report and say that I still owe them the money. I will be taking them to court soon.

Getting Back at Them
One of the few ways to get at them is to take as much time on the phone as possible, without identifying yourself. Time is money to them. Play with them on the phone--just identify yourself. They operate on the edge of what is legal, and deserve whatever you can give them. (They cross the boundary of what is ethical.)
Error in Previous Post
The previous post should read "DON'T identify yourself." Sorry about that. I was just so angry I didn't take time to read what I wrote.
The point is: TAKE UP THEIR TIME!

they put a garnishment on my checking account and it is now making it difficult for me to pay rent and utilities. What should I do? Contact them?
Pond Scum
I've spoken with a guy there named Angelo and he tried to put me on a payment plan that I flat out told him I could not afford. I would not agree to any payment plan until he could provide me with proof that his company owns the debt. Why should I or anyone send them money when they can not produce the proof they own the debt. Now I have my attorney involved. They tried to call me at work and I told them to stop and gave him my attorney's info. Legally they can not call you at work again, when you tell them to do so. They even pulled a trick and called my parents house and stated that I was involved in some sort of litigation. I haven't lived with them for years. This is another example of they BS tactics. My attorney said they try this to get you scared and possibly get your family to cough up the money.

They can't garnish your wages without a court order, do they already have a judgment against you?

It seems I have a debt that was bought out by arrow finacial. Supposidly it was bought out in march of 2008. I never did once receive a phone call or letter in the mail stating that i owed them money. But now it seems that another company has bought the loan out too. The new collectors are MJR collections. The new coolectors now have my address and this is the first i have heard about it... sounds kinda fishy to me. What should i do to investigate this deeper???

I rec'vd a credit card debt letter in the mail from these people saying i owed some money on a card i never had. I called them. I asked them to mark it disputed. The guy told me no he wouldn't. He sd i have to send a letter in writing to dispute it. I did this the next day, but still...shouldn't he mark it disputed? It's a fraudulent account i disputed forever ago. Plus the letter didn't say i had 30 days to dispute the debt? Where's my 'you have the right to dispute' debt letter? Plus it had "arrow financial" on one part of letter and another company called capitol management services llc all on the same letter? So confusing!

Are they reporting to your credit report? You may also dispute the same with the credit reporting agencies.
Not disclosing the 'mini miranda' properly in the collection letter is a violation of the FDCPA rights. You can even sue the collector in the small claims court for such violation.
