Here we go again.... just when I thought I was done with these idiots, which by the way I have overpaid $330, they called me and sent me the following email. [FONT=Arial][SIZE=2][COLOR=red][COLOR=navy]"Unfortunately, your state’s laws do not apply to our company due to your contractual agreement which I have already provided you a second copy of. State laws against payday loan companies are applied to those who are located in your state.

In House Collections tells me I have to make settlement arrangement over the phone?

14 years 4 months ago
Okay so my debt has been charged off and has now been handed over to an In House collection agency. I called up to gather some information and asked for an address I could send a letter to with a settlement amount I can handle. The debt was originally $5000 but with fees and interest it's up to $6400. He kept telling me that even if I send a letter he would have to talk to me over the phone to discuss the settlement. So will sending a debt settlement letter by certified mail not work? I always read that you should never discuss this over the phone or give them a figure.

VIP Loan Shop

Hello, I intially took out a loan with the VIP Loan Shop back in May for the amount of $200. With the bi-weekly payments, I was paying $75.00 for six weeks. Needless to say, I closed my bank account. Once this was done the account went into collections and they had an outside debt collector by the name of Total Recovery to contact me today, September 21, 2011. They asked me was I aware of a clause in the contract that I signed stating that they could get a third party involved to get a court order to garnish my wages. So immediately I set up a repayment plan.

Phone Call from JDB after DV Letter

14 years 4 months ago
Hello, I don't want to mess up. My wife received a phone call on her cell phone from a collector who is trying to collect a debt that is past SOL. I sent the DV letter and received the confirmation back. My wife asked him if he received the letter and he stated he did. Should I call him back or wait on the confirmation from them? I'm sure he's going to try more games like they do and I don't want to make any mistakes. Thanks!

Dealing with LNVN

14 years 4 months ago
I have two large accounts with LVNV. I am in North Texas, and I am pretty familiar with TFC, TDCPA and others. Both went delinquent in 8/08. I started DV letters when OC was trying to collect a couple of years ago. I got no response from either OC's CA. Both debts were then sold having never been validated by the CA trying to collect for the OCs. One went so far as to say they were trying, but had not been given the needed materials from the OC (TFC requirement). I immediately sent DV letters to both new CAs for LNVN. Niether responded again.

Payday Loan Hell

14 years 4 months ago
Hi, I live in Nevada and have taken too many payday loans. I consulted Consumer Credit Counseling Services and they told me I should declare bankruptcy. I really do not want to tgo that route and I am hoping that I can find some help here. So here are my questions: 1) How do I find out if the companies are licensed in Nevada? 2) What is the first letter I send out? I have already closed my checking account and opened another.

Garnishing Wages (never sued, or summoned)

14 years 4 months ago
My husband just received word from his employer that $50+ had been garnished from his wages by this company (Midland financial). Last week my husband called TransUnion to get a copy of his credit report, could that have effected us? We NEVER received a summons, or any kind of notice that we were being sued. Never heard of them until today. Came online google searched and found all kind of horror stories about them. We know better than to ignore a summons, but how can we know to appear in court if we are not contacted? What can we do at this point?
