Employer honoring Wage Assignment

14 years 4 months ago
My employer has already honored one wage assignment for L & M Financial. Now Powell Law is submitting a wage assignment on behalf of National Payday Loans which my employer also intends to honor. I have written a letter to Powell revoking my voluntary wage assignment and gave a copy to my employer but they said they have to pay it because it has my digital signature. I have provided a copy of the FTC rules regarding wage assignments and they still won't listen to me. Is there somewhere I can get proof the payroll clerk will believe??

Help!!!! Can they really hold a spouse accountable.

14 years 4 months ago
I keep recieving very harrassing calls from Morgan Jackson saying that since I am married to my husband I will be taken to court for a bad check on a payday loan that my husband took out almost 4 years ago. He was laid off, therfore could not pay back the loan and defaulted on the contract, so they are now threatening me saying they are summoning me to court for a felony bad check, that I had nothing to do with. I never signed anything nor was I present for or participate in this loan. They are actually telling me that since I am married to him that i will be held responsible!

Aftermath of Settlement - Examples Please

14 years 4 months ago
I'm about to begin the credit card settlement process. Can anyone speak to their experience after completing the process? What were the most noticeable negative impacts of the settlement? How long did they last? How long did it take for things to normalize? How long until your credit score recovered? How long until you were able to be approved for new credit? That kind of stuff. Please, no speculation, I'm only looking for feedback from people who have actually been through the process. Thanks!

Midland Funding/Finance whatever!!!

My husband just received word from his employer that $50+ had been garnished from his wages by this company. Last week my husband called TransUnion to get a copy of his credit report, could that have effected us? We NEVER received a summons, or any kind of notice that we were being sued. Never heard of them until today. Came online google searched and found all kind of horror stories about them. We know better than to ignore a summons, but how can we know to appear in court if we are not contacted? What can we do at this point?

Attempt to Settle w/ Citi/UCB

14 years 4 months ago
Hello, I have 2 cards with Citi, total of 16k. Both are in Charge off status. I was told to contact UCB on the accounts. I have 50% of the total to settle with. I am the only one on the accounts and am currently unemployed. I assume I should call UCB and let them know I would like to try to settle the two accounts. What will be their reaction? Call me names, threaten to sue, tell me they have to get the full amount or will I get someone who will work with me? Just wondering if anyone has any recent experience similar to this. A lot of the info I find is from 3 to 4 years ago.

Rent-A-Center payday loan

14 years 4 months ago
About 2 years ago I had a small payday loan from the Rent-A-Center Financial Services in Colorado with a balance of about $150 when they up and closed the doors, completely went out of business. I never heard another word from them...until yesterday! (now I know that they sold off their payday loan section - found that out online) I received very harassing phone calls from a guy saying he was going to serve me papers, contact friends and family, etc (you know the script, lol) so I called the number.

Getting a Mortgage with paid CC entries on report

14 years 4 months ago
Given this: A car loan in good standing (paid as expected) for the last 4 years, (around $19,000 with less than $4,000 left.) A personal loan (paid as expected) less than a year, (around $3,000 less than $800 left.) 3 credit cards (all paid as expected - low limits) 3-4 years The above is the good part.

Paul....

I just received another email: Amanda writes: I did not state you would not get a refund, however, you will more than likely not receive the whole amount you are asking for because you were given the loan terms in june and september and still chose to not set up a pay down or pay off. Again, the lender has adjusted your account so your balance has been zeroed and no further deductions will occur. My response is: Unfortunately, due in part to the exhorbitant amount of fees and finance charges that were assessed, paying off the loan was made quite impossible to do.
