I just started going back to school at nights half-time. I applied for a federal student loan but have not heard if approved yet. I heard that you will not be approved for a federal student loan if you ever defaulted on one. Well, 22 years ago, I had a state grant for $2600 for a business school I attended after high school. Iwent on the aessuccess.org web site and noticed the loan was showing "claim paid" Do you think that will hinder me from getting my new loan?

After constant attempts & payment plan w/ BOA a few yrs ago I couldn't manage to lower my debt on the card below 1,500. They were constantly imposing hidden & late fees so I just gave-up. Now they hit me w/ this court summons & a balance of 2,200 + thru their alleged lawyers (Lacy Katzen LLP). Talked to one of them (which was so rude) & according to them, FIA would accept a one time payment of 1/2 the total to be paid within 30 days. I'm still frustrated w/ their services and methods but I just wann'a get them off my back & hopefully repair the damage to my credit.

I stop paying my Chase card 1 1/2 years ago when I became unemployed. Im still unemployed but my question is, is it usual for a creditor to keep calling me for 1 1/2 years? I had defaulted on another card and now a collection agency calls me regarding that but Chase is still calling me. I had offered them a settlement about 1 year ago and they refused it and so since then I have had no contact with them. Does this sound normal for them to do? Thanks

OK, here is my thought. I am curious if anyone has tried to do what the BIG CREIT CARD companies do. The fees and rules are based on the laws of the CC company state(usually Deleware), because they are usually very favorable to the CC company. I saw that last year in NY, the NY supreme Court ruled that the SOL of the home state applies to credit card debt, and not the longer SOL of the debtor's state. Since most of the CC companies are in Delaware, the SOL there is only 3 years, which is much shorter than in most states.

I got a title loan a few months ago in texas for 2150. I have been paying 300 dollars every two weeks. Went in today and tried to pay another 300 dollars and they told me I had to refinance the remainder which was almost 2800 dollars and I needed to pay 500 dollars to keep the vehicle. She gave me til Saturday to come up with the other 200 dollars but then told me that every day after today there will be 1% interest put on the 200 dollars i already owe. Is there any way to get out of this mess?

I am searching for information on something I was told about storefront PDL's, isnt there a 1 time a year option to pay them back what you owe with out the monthly renewal? so if you owe $300 your payments would be $75 every payday for 4 weeks.... Can someone help out here. THank you

I have 4 online pdl's I got out of desperation to help my son with medical bills where he did not have medical and was hospitalized. Has anyone dealt with extrafunds.com they are telling me the only payments they accept are through debit cards or prepaid cards. For me it would be easier to send them a money order. Has anyone who dealt with them paid them any other way than a prepaid card.
