Violation?

14 years 5 months ago
I received a demand letter from a law firm and sent a DV letter, which was received by them on 07/18/11. I had a limited cease & desist in there, advising all communication to me must be in writing. As of today's mail, I received no written response from them. However, I did have a voice mail late yesterday afternoon from an assistant at the law office. I figured someone managed to remember my letter at the last hour. I have my follow-up letter already printed and ready to send out today or tomorrow.

Debt Validation

14 years 5 months ago
Hello, I know diddly squat about debt and my rights, but after coming across this forum I must say it has truly opened my eyes. Thank you for that. My situation is this: I currently have an outstanding debt on my credit report that I do not recognize from GE Money. I had originally applied for credit under Care Credit/GE Money for my dental in 2007, but this was paid in full (in fact, I have a $40 credit) and I have the statement to prove it. I called GE Money, but they sold my debt to Arrow Financial.

Discover settlement questions

14 years 5 months ago
Hello. I have been sued by an attorney for Discover. I have offered about 30% to settle. Just sent a letter to the attorney office. Have not had any contact on phone or in person. No response on the offer. I fully expect they won't take it for a 7,000 debt but wanted to start low. If I do get them to settle for whatever amount, what happens next? I know I should get all in writing but how is the case usually ended and does these law firms also charge you above the settlement amount? Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone.

discover settlement

I just settled with discover for 50 percent -- I was able to borrow some more funds to finish with them -- it was going to an attorney next month and didn't want to wait it out for a possible 30 to 35 percent -- which with legal fees and more interest added would be like splitting hairs -- anyway -- I feel good -- it was the most I paid on a settlement but another one down -- this is what I have left -- Amex(nco) 20k old navy (now with nco) -- 1800 chase -- 30k -- thats it -- big ones coming up -- chase seems the nicest -- nco -- not as bad as I thought they would be -- any advise -- a

MCM has popped up

14 years 5 months ago
I have used a method of my own to discourage debt collectors. When they call and ask for me , I NEVER admit I am me. They can't proceed. i give them no information. They eventually go away. For years i have just received a very occasional letter. i trash those. Most of my debt is old, as i understand no longer collectible. I have one Chase credit card that has been charged off and is not so old yet. i got a call today from MCM. I blew him off. I wonder is this sleazeoid company likely to do an asset search? i may buy a decent used car and i don't want it seized.

Payday loan help

14 years 5 months ago
I took a 500.00 loan from Bayside loans back in May and have been renewing the loan since to a total of 700.00. Before the last due date I had asked them to pay the whole thing off but the day before I had an issue and had emailed them asking to renew the loan since i couldnt pay the whole thing. Today I got paid and they debited my account anyway for 675.00 dollars and also 175.00 for another fee which put my account into a waaay negative status.

Next Step

14 years 5 months ago
Hello I am in Florida and have the following payday loans (with current payoffs) All internet companies USAFast Cash $650.00 Cash In a wink $520.00 Anasazi Group LLC $390 Pepper Cash $675 I have switched my bank account and want to work on paying them off. What is the best next step. I did look in to a debit reduction company but after reading the paperwork there is no kind of guarantee and looks like I am just as likely to do it myself and take the fee and use it to pay on the debit.

Phone call from LTD Financial Services

14 years 5 months ago
It comes up as a local number for Unipoint Services. Anyway, years ago I had several payday loans. These people call me once a week, ask for me, and state they are trying to collect on a Macy's account. They never leave a voicemail. I have never had a Macy's account or any other account linked to Macy 's. When I asked them to send it in writing and validate the debt they stated it was sent to an address that was clearly not mine or never was. What now? They won't provide any information and I am not sure if its a former PDL or fraud.
